As campaigning on full swing in five states Congress tightens its belt to highlight issues against ruling BJP. Ramesh fires salvo against Adani !
As the campaigning in the five states that are to go to polls next month is on full swing, the ruling party leaders and main opposition Congress including the I. N. D. I. A leaders are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that their accusations against each other impress electorates to the hilt who vote for them respectively.
The national elections of 2024 are are round the corner resulting in the saffron party and opposition hitting each other to the maximum. The recent salvo of Congress leader and its communication department in charge Jairam Ramesh against the ruling political dispensation and Gautam Adani has created quite a furore in political circles after the stories filed by renowned newspapers viz Financial Times and The Guardian after the OCCRP allegedly found clinching evidence regarding Adani Group ( associates) allegedly controlling shell companies in overseas tax havens.
The Congress leader in a statement on X, earlier Twitter while raising his point urged SEBI to stand firm and thoroughly investigate the serious matter to reach to a definite conclusion in a timely matter though also reiterating that only a Joint Parliamentary Probe can investigate it in all earnestness terming it as Adani Mega Scam.
Kindly recall that the anti BJP opposition parties had been out rightly opposing in and outside parliament holding number of protest demonstrations etc to demand investigation against Adani associates for its dubious dealings and scams after a, United States research firm Hindenburg had charged it with stick price manipulation on wide scale . However, the charges were strongly denied by Adani Group saying that they are clean and had done nothing illegal in this regard. The AICC’s communication in charge and senior leader Jairam Ramesh has on X, wrote : Recently, the Organised Crime & Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) found clinching evidence that Adani associates were controlling opaque shell companies in overseas tax havens that had amassed huge stakes in Adani Group companies. All this was done in blatant violation of SEBI regulations. Major global papers like the Financial Times and the Guardian covered the story in detail. The Adani Group and its minions in the BJP attempted to discredit OCCRP as “Soros-funded interests”. Now, it emerges that SEBI itself had approached OCCRP to get access to the documents proving that Adani was in fact indulging in round-tripping and money-laundering benami funds. Will Adani apologists attack SEBI as conspiring with Soros? Does this not prove that SEBI is finally taking these disclosures seriously and attempting to fulfill its duty to the nation. We urge SEBI to stand firm and finish its investigation in a timely manner. However, we reiterate that only a JPC can investigate the full scope of the Adani MegaScam, including the close and enduring relationship, financial or otherwise, between the PM and his friend Adani.
Meanwhile, the vociferous Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate has also accused the ruling party dispensation for spending tremendous amount of public exchequer in advertisements during the G- 20 summit to enhance its image multifold. The Congress leader Supriya, Shrinate wrote on X in Hindi annexing the RTI information in this regard : During G-20 the advertisement on every corner, every road, every pillar on which Modiji was exhibited in a smiling posture, the cost till 31 st March had come to Rs. 10,29,50,273 .
