ARVIND KEJRIWAL’S PLEA CHALLENGING HIS ARREST, REJECTED BY DELHI HIGH COURT
The Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival suffered a huge jolt in the Delhi High Court today when his petition challenging his arrest was outrightly rejected. A petition was filed in Delhi High Court against the arrest of AAP ‘s national convenor and Delhi CM terming it as illegal. The court while rejecting the petition challenging his arrest said that it is being rejected as it has sufficient proofs to arrive at a conclusion that Kejrival is involved in this case. He was arrested on March 21 and was send to ED custody for interrogation for eleventh days. However after eleven days of E D’s custody the latter didn’t objected to his bail and the additional district sessions judge at Rouse Avenue Kaveri Baveja had granted him 14 days judicial remand. Earlier to this, Arvind Kejrival was arrested as the Court refused to grant him protection from any coercive action as requested by his counsel and senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi. In the additional district Session’s Court Arvind Kejrival had earlier requested the judge to allow him to speak and after being granted the permission he said that while there is no evidence against him he has been arrested and the approver who had donated Rs 55 crores to BJP Sarat Reddy there is no case against the party president JP Nadda against whom there is a clear cut money trail . He demanded registration of a case against national BJP president J.P.Nadda as well. However, he was remanded to 14 days judicial remand which will end soon and he will be presented in the court on 15 April. It may be recalled that Kavitha, MLA in Telengana assembly and daughter of BRS chief who had applied for bail yesterday was rejected the bail on the ground that she is well educated , influential and not vulnerable and can influence the witnesses. The judge of district additional sessions court Kaveri Baveja said that after going through the material and thoroughly studying I have found enough evidence against her in connection with her involvement to seek undue favours in the liquor scam with regard to the new Liquor policy of Delhi government.
About 18 persons have been arrested in connection with the Delhi givernment’s new liquor policy scam under the alleged charge of Rs 100 crores received by Delhi ruling politicians of AAP from the South Lobby. Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival, former deputy CM Manish Sisodia and RajyaSabha MP Sanjay Singh are among the 18 arrested persons. Sanjay Singh has been released few days ago on bail while Manish Sisodia is behind bars for the last more than a year in Tihar prison.
Meanwhile, there are reports that after the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance is sure to get a huge victory in all the seven parliamentary seats of the national capital. Since 2014, BJP candidates have been winning all the seven parliamentary seats in Delhi, but it is believed that this time the tables are going to be turned and the Indian alliance is likely to win most of the seats in Delhi.
