Arvind Kejrival requests for live telecast of the proceedings of privileges committee which summoned him on 6 th March

The national convenor of AAP and the former chief minister of NCT of Delhi Arvind Kejrival has agreed to present himself before the privileges committee of Delhi assembly after he was summoned on 18 th February under the Rule 172 8: 220 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Legislative Assbly of NCT of Delhi.

In a letter of compliance sent to the Chairman of the Privileges Committee of Delhi Assembly Arvind Kejrival has expressed his desire to telecast the proceedings of the hearing live on 6 th March.

Responding to the chairman of privileges committee Arvind Kejrival wrote : I acknowledge receipt of the summon dated 18.02.2026 issued under Rule 172 8: 220 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Legislative Assembly of NCT of Delhi.
In compliance with the said notice, I shall appear in person before the Committee of Privileges on 06.03.2026 at 03:00 P.M,, at the venue mentioned therein.
My appearance is without prejudice to my legal and constitutional rights, remedies, objections and contentions, all of which are expressly reserved.
In the interest of transparency and public accountability, I request that the proceedings of the Committee in the present matter be live-streamed.

It may be recalled that this issue refers to the “Phansi Ghar”, ( Gallows Chamber) a room that was publicly exhibited / showcased by the Aam Admi Party government in August 2022 asa historical execution chamber on the assembly premises. This became a political flashpoint after the Delhi assembly speaker Vijendra Gupta, the previous year showed the maps and shared other important details claiming that it was a lift chamber used for transporting tiffins and not the execution rooms.

The development follows proceedings of the Delhi assembly last month, when the house adopted the first report of the committee of privileges after a motion was moved, agreeing with the report presented on January 6, 2026.

The report recorded that the absence of the AAP leaders mentioned from committee sittings on November 13 and November 20, 2025, remained unexplained despite repeated communications being sent to them.

The notice of the summon was not issued exclusively to former Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival but to former speaker Ram Niwas Goel, former deputy CM Manish Sisodia and, former deputy speaker Rakhi Bidlan also directing them to appear before the privileged committee in person on February 16.

The notices were skipped but Arvind Kekrival in his reply had said that calling him repeatedly will be a futile exercise as he can come from March 2 to 6.

Finally the chairman of the Privileges Committee Pradyuman Singh Rajput has agreed to summon him on March 6 but Arvind Kejrival though agreeing to the notice to appear before him said that he would like the entire proceedings to be telecast live.
