Arvind Kejrival announces 300 monthly units free n waving off of pending electricity bills in Uttarakhand
After announcing free electricity to the citizens of Punjab consuming three hundred units of electricity a month in case the Aam Admi Party comes to power in the ensuing assembly elections, the national convenor of AAP and Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival has reached Dehradun on Sunday in order to broad base the party’s socio political influence, where it is contesting in all the 70 seats giving fight to both the national parties viz Congress n BJP who’ve ruled this Himalayan state alternatively during the last 21 years.
The chief minister said that Uttarakhand is producing electricity and still its consumers are charged exorbitantly whereas in the national capital the AAM ADMI PARTY despite purchasing power from private sources is distributing free electricity to domestic consumers since the last seven years including free water up to 2000 litres per month.
In a tweet Arvind Kejrival wrote : Uttarakhand produces electricity and sells to other states , then why is electricity being sold so costly to Uttarakhand people. Delhi dosen’t produce it’s electricity and purchases it from neighbouring states, but still gives free electricity to Delhites. Should Uttarakhand’s inhabitants not be given free electricity tweeted Arvind Kejrival.
Meanwhile, after reaching the state capital Delhradun Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival after acknowledging a tumultuous reception, while addressing the press conference announced three hundred units of free electricity on the lines of Punjab, making Uttarakhand’s exasperated electorates extremely jubilant. He also said that all the previous pending bills will be waived off including free electricity to farmers.
Addressing the press conference Kejrival said that when his workers went from door to door meeting people, they received numerous complaints of 8 hours power cuts and inflated electricity bills.
He is therefore assuring of waiving off of all the pending bills including 24 hours of power supply etc but it will take three to four years to do the needful for ensuring this he added.
Kejrival while accusing the two national parties of betraying the electorates of the state for the last twenty years said that they were grinded by these two parties on false promises serving their own vested interests by alternatively ruling the state turn by turn.
Kejrival assured of implementing these promises within a month after coming to power in state. He said it sounds surprising and shocking that the Uttarakhand state is producing power and selling electricity to other states but its own inhabitants are getting electricity at exorbitant rates.
Elaborating on Delhi situation in this regard Kejrival said that Delhi’s budget is of Rs 60 thousand crores and the electricity expenses come to Rs 22 hundred crores. Whereas in Uttarakhand whose budget is of 50 thousand crores annually, the expenses to be incurred in these electricity rebate will be of merely Rs 1200 crores said Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival.
He pledged that his government in Uttarakhand if comes to power will work on two models, first to weed out corruption from the state and second, our government will not enhance any tax in the state during its five year tenure as we will hit on tax evasion. Our party runs on people’s fund not on the money of the affluents and the ultra industrialists said Arvind Kejrival. He also announced free electricity to the farmers of the state.
Punjab and Uttarakhand where Arvind Kejrival has announced three hundred units of electricity free on monthly bases and waiving off of pending bills are going to polls next year and Aam Admi Party has declared contesting on all the seats posing direct challenge to Congress and BJP who had been ruling in this state for the last 21 years.
The pre poll free electricity pledge by Arvind Kejrival has infact surpassed the ruling party BJP’s recent announcement of delivering free electricity to consumers of 100 units on monthly basis and fifty percent relief to consumers from 101 units to 200 units.
This announcement will benefit about eighty percent electorates in Uttarakhand say sources. The waving off of all the pending bills is an additional freebie to the electorates and will provide huge relief to the people in financial jeopardy usually living in interior villages still depending on money order economy compounded with free electricity to farmers.
The faction ridden Congress party has so far not made any announcement in this regard, finding itself on the back foot politically.
The Uttarakhand AAP convenor and MLA from Delhi and Ajay Kothiyal also briefly adressed the press conference prior to national AAP convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival. The Uttarakhand electorates are badly fed up with both Congress and BJP as they have been betrayed during the last two decades witnessing 11 chief ministers with seven of BJP and four of Congress.
The assembly elections are to held in the month of March April ,2022 with hardly 9 to 10 months in the offing.
