Around 10,000 pilgrims stranded between Bharmour and Chamba due to massive disaster

NEERAJ THAKUR
Around 10,000 devotees, who had gone on the Manimahesh Yatra, are stranded between Bharmour and Chamba due to the massive disaster.
Landslides and heavy rains have completely washed away roads, disrupting road and communication links in the area.
Some healthy devotees are reaching Chamba on foot with the help of police, but the route is extremely difficult and is completely damaged at many places.
The elderly and sick people have been stopped at Bharmour itself, where the administration has only one satellite phone available. Through this phone, the stranded devotees are being allowed to talk to their families.
At present, only the police is helping the people at the disaster site. The army is expected to reach by tomorrow, after which the process of evacuating all the stranded people will begin.
Relief work is underway by the administration and police, and it is expected that all the devotees will be safely transported to their homes soon.
