Andher Nagari”: A Powerful Critique by Young Performers
Children Mesmerize the Audience with Stellar Acting and Bold Commentary on the System,
New Delhi: At the conclusion of the children’s theatre training camp organized by Udaan – The Center of Theatre Art and Child Development, young participants staged the play Andher Nagari, delivering a sharp critique of societal systems. The children captivated the audience with their powerful performances.
The play was staged at Mother Divine Public School in Delhi under the guidance of the organization’s director, Sanjay Tuteja. Written by Bharatendu Harishchandra, the play was directed by Pooja and Sanwal Sehgal, with Neelakshi serving as the assistant director. The event was graced by the presence of social worker and entrepreneur Sanjay Gupta and the school’s estate head, Manoj Verma, as chief guests. The young actors left an indelible mark with their talent and mesmerized the audience.
In terms of performances, Bhanuja portrayed the role of the king, while Kanya Baveja played the princess. Aakarsh brought the character of Baba to life, Manit excelled as Govardhan Das, and Vansh delivered a strong performance as Purushottam Das. Pranav impressed as both the narrator and petitioner, while Vedika and Pranika played ministers and narrators. Jiya skillfully portrayed the roles of minister and constable. Other performers, including Aadwik and Lavish, also did justice to their roles.
At the end of the event, all the young artists were awarded trophies, boosting their morale and celebrating their exceptional performances.
