The Uttarakhand chief minister along with his entire entourage is back from his over ambitious project ” Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit “, in London from where he was successful in mobilising funds worth Rs thousands of crores of for Uttarakhand’s industrial development including development in the fields of infrastructure, health, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, tourism, education etc.
The chief minister had during this three day tour of his, has interacted with influential investors of Indian and foreign origin in England and invited them to participate in Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit to be held in Uttarakhand in the month of December.
Among the important dignitaries the chief minister met, interacted sought his significant views was a leading personality of Indian origin living in England Tarun Gulati who is
an accomplished business man in London UK, having steered several Multi national company ( MNC ) as CEO !
Tarun was born in Delhi India & his father Mr SP Ghulati was Secretary Govt of India. He is a family friend of highly respected entrepreneur and social activist KC Pandey ( Founder of UDAAN ( Uttarakhand Dialogue & Action Network ) a social organisation comprising members of Global Uttarakhandis ) committed for the development of Uttarakhand !

the CEO, Singapore. He raised circa USD 700 millions of new money for various UTI funds. As if this, was not enough Tarun has launched and led asset/wealth management and private banking businesses in the UK, India, Thailand, Singapore, Qatar, Bahrain, Dubai, Mauritius and Kenya.
Apart from these pivotal responsibilities handled by him with immense outstanding ability and dexterity as the chief of the HSBC Premier, UK, he managed assets of around USD 40 billion making over USD 900 millions of income by way of leading 850 Premier Managers across 1600 branches, implementing and embedding transformational change to create a market leader.
As the Head of HSBC International Personal Banking, UK, he ensured a seamless proposition across countries for international customers. Also appointed to the HSBC Global
Customer Group Management Committee. Worked collaboratively with HSBC CEOs internationally to develop customer driven strategies, consistent culture behaviours, policies and operational processes.Tarun was also responsible for 15 countries across Asia Pacific as Operations Manager International, HSBC Hong Kong. He ensured their profitable functioning through implementation of
Annual Operating Plans in line with the overall Strategic plan. He launched retail banking, credit cards and SME businesses across Asia Pacific.
Tarun was involved in the USD 33 billion merger of Marine Midland Bank USA into HSBC Bank
USA.
Tarun managed Credit & Risk for 14 countries in Asia Pacific, including Japan as Credit Manager International, HSBC Hong Kong. Credit proposals ranged from aircraft leasing and financing (Emirates, China Eastern, Qantas etc), structured deals like Tokyo Disneyland, and vanilla credit proposals going into billions of dollars.
In his s important capacity as Country Manager Personal Financial Services and Credit Cards, HSBC Qatar, motivated around 350 colleagues to achieve net profit which was more than the combined HSBC businesses in Bahrain,
Kuwait, Jordan and Oman.
As Senior Vice President, HSBC Thailand, he led the business development for the bank.Tarun worked in HSBC, India, leading the Financial
Institutions Group (FIG) business for Eastern
India, Bangladesh and Nepal, managing institutional relationships. He then managed the credit operations for the Commercial and Corporate bank in Eastern India. He moved to
lead HSBC’s Retail bank in North India. Tarun’s contribution for 5 years to Citibank, India as Head of Business Development enhancing the distribution reach to create a market leader in Consumer banking was highly laudable. Subsequently, was Head of Collections Non-Performing customers. Opened two
subsidiaries as Head of Projects. Tarun has assisted in several M&A transactions, which include the USD 142 million stake of T Rowe Price in UTI Asset Management. He has run several start-ups, outsourced
extensively, created strategic alliances, partnerships building distribution networks including setting up n leading sales teams internationally.

According to reports while interacting with the chief minister in the England investors summit Tarun Ghulati exhibited quite an interest in ensuring investment in Uttarakhand through his efforts, sources and initiatives. The chief minister invited him to attend the Uttarakhand Global summit slated to be held in the month of December. Around 80 or more investors, industrialists and corporate honchos had participated in the deliberations led by the Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami at Buckingham, Taj in London.
