All the contractual employees of Delhi government terminated. Delhi LG’s accords approval !
The Lt Governor of NCT of Delhi has accorded his approval to an order to terminate all the contractual employees working in Delhi Commission for Women with immediate effect. There were charges that the former chairperson of Delhi Commission of Women Swati Maliwal had illegally appointed over 223 employees on contractual basis in Delhi Commission for women. According to the termination orders signed by the Assistant Secretary of Delhi Commission for Women Gautam Mazumdar dated 21 October, 2024 the order states that in compliance with the Additional Director, Department of Women and Child Development GNCTD order dated 29.04.2024 thereby conveyed the approval of the Hon’ble Lt.Givetnor , Delhi to Delhi Commission for Women to discontinue the services of all the contractual staff working in this commission with immediate effect who have been appointed by DCW at any point of time, the Services of all the Contractual Staff are hereby discontinued with immediate effect. This issues prior approval of the Member Secretary/ Link officer says the office order.
Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal who had been the DCW chairperson for nearly nine years but now at loggerhead with the former Delhi CM and AAP Supremo Arvind Kejrival strongly condemned the termination of the services of the contractual staff of DCW urging the Delhi LG to look into it.
She wrote on X : I strongly condemn the sudden removal of the hardworking contractual staff at DCW. These people have given their heart and soul to work for women and girls in the Capital. Infact, since Delhi Government stopped their funds, they have been working without salary for many months. This order by the present Member Secretary, DCW is ILLEGAL and malafide. I appeal to Delhi Government and Hon’ble LG to ensure urgent revocation of this order and restoration of the staff of the Commission. Delhi Government must also provide salaries to them before Diwali. To this one of the X user Komal responding to her tweet wrote : Swati had earlier termed removal of DCW employees as a ‘shameful act by LG’. She knows LG is responsible for this and not Delhi govt. Still Swati is spinning this to badmouth Delhi govt. Not expected at least in this matter concerning her former colleagues. Shameful.
