After two MLAs joing BJP another independent MLA from Bhimtal joins BJP today

After an independent MLA from Dhanauly Pritam Singh Panwar and Congress MLA from Purola, Uttarkashi, Garhwal Uttarakhand, Raj Kumar joining BJP last month, on Friday another independent MLA from Bhimtal, Kumaon, Ram Singh Kaira, alongwith his wife, block chief of Okhalkanda, along with their supporters have joined the saffron party at its Delhi headquarter in the presence of the actor turned Union Minister Smriti Irani, national media chief of BJP, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni, the Uttarakhand BJP incharge and national general secretary Dushyant Gautam and Uttarakhand BJP president Madan Kaushik.

The Union minister Smriti Irani presented him the admission membership slip of the BJP while Dushyant Gautam, general secretary in charge Uttarakhand BJP presented him a BJP patta and Madan Kaushik a bouquet formally admitting him in the party.

The BJP chief spokesman Anil Baluni while welcoming the independent lawmaker to BJP said that several opposition party members are joining BJP which speaks of the fact about their eagerness to join the saffron party.

The independent MLA expressing his happiness while joining BJP said that there is complete harmony in the party where leaders and workers are duly respected n honoured.

As the state elections in Uttarakhand are nearing, its term expiring on 23 rd March 2022, three MLAs, two of them independent and one from Congress has joined them in a month’s time.

Though the present MLA Kaira had been the secretary of Congress and Congress MLA in 2012 who fought the 2017 election independently after not given the Congress ticket, his defection in BJP has definitely affected Congress in terms of BJP boasting itself to have brought three lawmakers in its fold in just a month.

Similarly the earlier independent MLA Pritam Singh Panwar was minister in Congress govt under Vijay Bahuguna’s tenure as a UKD MLA who later on left the regional party and won as an independent MLA from Dhanaulty.

The MLA from Purola, Uttarkashi, Raj Kumar who joined BJP few days ago was in Congress.

There is a continuing trend of several lawmakers joining BJP which definitely is a huge rebuff for Congress especially when state elections are round the corner.

It may be recalled that Rajya Sabha MP and BJP national media incharge Anil Baluni, who is MP Rajya Sabha from Uttarakhand is quite active these days in bringing opposition and independent MLAs in BJP say reliable sources.

Meanwhile the vice president of Congress in Uttarakhand Dhirendra Pratap has accused the BJP leadership of encouraging spate of defections in their party to encourage ” Aaya Ram Gaya Ram”, politics and corruption to encourage opportunist politicians who do not get mandate by their electorates to change sides to fulfil their vested political interests.

Dhirendra Pratap has said that the BJP has been frightened with the increasing influence of Congress among the electorates and through such unprincipled defections of opportunist politicians it is not only vitiating the environment of good politics but also encouraging a trend of believing in opportunistic bad, immoral and unethical politics who win through people’s mandate for resolution of their grievances but join other parties to meet their vested political interests said Dhirendra Pratap.
