After meeting at home minister Amit Shah’s, residence, the BJP legislature meeting to elect the new CM to take place on Monday. Anil Baluni may lead?
Despite getting absolute majority securing 47 seats in Uttarakhand the central High command has not been able to announce its chief ministerial candidate, even after ten days of results being declared.
However, after several days of speculations, discussions, political predictions and several round of close door meetings between various top leaders, the party’s legislatures meeting to elect their new leader at Dehradun is scheduled for Monday morning at the state capital, Dehradun.
Meanwhile, the Union home minister Amit Shah today held a meeting at his residence in New Delhi in which Uttarakhand’s caretaker CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, former CM n union education minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, state president Madan Kaushik, Trivendra Singh Rawat, Satpal Maharaj, the national party chief J. P. Nadda, BL Santosh and Rajya, Sabha MP Anil Baluni participated.
The decision about the possible Uttarakhand CM, taken in the meeting has been kept under wraps reveal sources. There are also reports of the CM finalised by PM Narendra Modi.
There are unconfirmed reports that former Uttarakhand minister Satpal Maharaj left the venue in between the meeting.
It may be recalled that till date several names are doing the rounds viz caretaker CM, Pushkar Singh Dhami, minister Dhan Singh Rawat, Satpal Maharaj, Dr. Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, union state minister ( Defence) Ajay Bhatt) and Rajya Sabha Member n national media chief of BJP Anil Baluni.
The name of Ritu Khanduri who defeated the Congress heavy weight of Uttarakhand Surendra Singh Negi from Kotdwar, was also in the news, cropped up by a section of BJP leaders.
However, the name of Pushkar Singh Dhami and Anil Baluni seems to be on the top, reveal sources being a non controversial former CM, who left no stone unturned to make party victorious breaking the myth of alternate government coming to power after every election and Anil Baluni, a most trusted national media incharge of BJP in the good books of PM n union home minister. About six newly elected lawmakers have voluntarily agreed to leave their seats for Pushkar Singh Dhami urging the party high command to repeat him as the state CM.
However, the weak point against Dhami is, his losing from Khatima, his home seat. Everyone, in BJP n Uttarakhand curious to know the name of the next CM are keeping their fingers crossed. There are speculations of Anil Baluni being the front runner.
According to latest news, the pro term speaker of Uttarakhand assembly Bansidhar Bhagat will be sworn in by the governor of Uttarakhand, ( R) Lt General Gurmeet Singh, followed by “Shapath”, to all the newly elected members.
Thereafter a new leader of BJP will be elected as the leader of BJP Legislature Party, the next CM of Uttarakhand.
The central observer union Defence minister Rajnath Singh and all the senior party leaders Dushyant Gautam, MP RS, Prahalad Joshi, and RS MP Anil Baluni etc will reach Dehradun either today evening or early morning to decide on the next CM.
The central High command is believed to have decided on the name which will finally get the stamp of prime minister Narendra Modi on the recommendation of union Home minister Amit Shah, party chief JP Nadda and senior BJP leader BL Santosh etc.
The central observers had been taking the suggestions from the newly elected MLAs on a consensus CM having send their report to central party high command already.
Speaking to media after the meeting the acting CM Dhami has said that the BJP has broken the myth by its massive victory in Uttarakhand, saying that its new CM will be declared on Monday in its Legislature Party meeting probably at 11.00 in the morning formally being sworn in at 5.00 PM ot on other day as the new government has to come into formal existence on 24 th March.
There should be no confusion in okeying the name of Mr Pushkar Singh Dhami. It was for his election planning and fairing the image of BJP in Uttarakhand otherwise, the majority of mandate made up a mind to go in for an alternative choice.
Harish Rawat and AAP candidate Col Ajay Kothiyal advertantly or inadvertently helped Dhami to fair well for majority seats for BJP.
