Two a litres from 1st July resulting in further overburdening the poor and economically deprived classes and lower middle class of the country. There had been nearly fifty times price hike of Petro products during the last few months putting tremendous burden over the already burdened middle n lower middle class n those living at the lowest ebb, reeling under acute crisis of pandemic. Now, the rise in milk prices will not only snatch milk from the mouth of children of poor families but will also enhance prices of milk related products etc. According to the latest news Amul has hiked the price of Milk by Rs 2 a litre. The Gujarat Cooperative Milk marketing Federation which is the biggest cooperative to market milk and milk related product under the brand name of Amul has enhanced the per litre price by Rs two due to the rise in input cost in Delhi, National Capital Regions, Gujarat Saurashtra and Ahmedabad. This increase in the input cost resulting in hike in milk price, after the spike in petrol n diesal prices haves given an unambiguous indication about the incoming inflation in other consumable products in the near future. This two rupees increase in the per litre enhancement translates into Rs 4 litre increase in maximum retail price which is much lower than average food inflation said the management of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation in a press statement. It further state that in the last 1.5 years the GCMMF have not made any hike in the fresh milk price. However, after the rise in the costs of energy, packaging, logistics n overall cost of operation the prices have to be hiked said the statement. Not only this but in view of the increase in the input costs the member unions have also hiked the price of farmers in the range of Rs 45 to 50 per kilogram fat which is more than the 6 percent over previous year said the GCMMF statement. Moreover it further added that 80 percent of the earnings through price rise will benefit its producers ( farmers) as being a cooperative the company AMUL’S policy is to pass on 80 paise out of Rs. 1 to them collected from the consumers. It may be recalled that last time the milk price was revised by Rs 3 a litre in 2019 by Amul in Gujarat and Delhi n NCR.
