After Bhartiya Janata Party came to power in Delhi DDA imposed fee on entry in a Dwarka park

Will you believe that now after the new government of Bhartiya Janata Party has assumed power in Delhi the people can enter parks without paying a hefty fee. A start has been made from Dwarka. Sounds irrational and worrisome as the BJP had during elections in Delhi has accorded assurances to Delhi voters to give more freebies than the AAP government which is now out of power.
According to the latest news the Delhi Development Authority has imposed fee on the entry in one of its parks in Dwarka. On 25 th February the Delhi Development Authority has put a notice in which it is said that in future the entry fee would be charged from those wanting to enter the park in Dwarka.
According to this DDA notice there will be a charge of Rs. 20 for every person, while the monthly pass will cost Rs 200 only. For the senior citizens the DDA has shown a large heart by charging them Rs.10 every day and Rs 100 every month if they prefer buying the pass. For the foreigners the charge would be Rs.100 per day. However the children below thirteen years have been left out from any charges. However, the DDA has not commented on this but had officially agreed that the charges have been levied in order to maintain the beautification of the parks to get rid of the unwanted elements or those who spoil the parks as well as vitiate the atmosphere.
There has been tremendous opposition to this latest decision of the DDA especially after the BJP government came in power as the local residents living in Dwarka in sector 16 D have protested on this notice charge entry fee saying that never before has there been any charge on parks considered to be public places for the benefit of the local residents. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has targeted the BJP government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for this and condemned this decision of the DDA. AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said on Sunday, “BJP has imposed entry fees in Delhi parks. Coming down heavily on the Delhi government, Kakkar said that it is the job of the government to encourage people to visit the park. But BJP has now imposed fees in the park.” Praising the AAP’s previous government she categorically said that, “Our government installed a gym in the park. Cycle footpath was built, but now BJP has imposed fee in the park as soon as it came. Rekha Gupta ji, stop lying. Stop the entry fee that you have started in the park.” said the outspoken spokesperson of AAP while responding to the DDA’s notice terming it as arbitrary.
