ADG Agra Zone says legal action being taken as per NHRC guidelines in Arun Balmiki death case

The Additional Director General, Agra Zone Rajeev Krishna has revealed that taking into account the National Human Rights Commissions guidelines the Uttar Pradesh police had taken suitable action against the erring police officials in connections with the case pertaining to the alleged death of a culprit Arun Balmiki in police custody, who was a sweeper in the Malkhana of Jagdishpur police station, Agra, involved in a case of theft of Rs 25 lakhs from the Malkhana.

He assured that no one would be spared for arbitrary action in the case and has issued clear cut directives in this regard.

In a vedio released in the twitter handle of Agra police the ADG Rajeev Krishna giving the details of the case said that Arun Kumar who was working in the police station Jagdishpur, Agra Range, was found involved in a case pertaining to the theft of Rs 25 lakhs from a box of Malkhana.

On investigations it was revealed that Arun was involved in the case and he had admitted about his involvement with 15 lakh rupees recovered from his house on the raid and search conducted by the local police in the presence of the family members.

As per the report acknowledged said ADG Rajeev Krishnan, it was revealed that when caught a cash of Rs 15 lakhs was found from his house and his condition deteriorated. The culprit was immediately taken to hospital for treatment where he was declared brought dead.

The further legal action in this regard is being taken. On the complaint of the family members and as per the guidelines of the NHRC the court cases have been registered against the erring/ guilty police officials under relevant sections of IPC said ADG Rajeev Krishan.

The guilty policemen would be dealt with as per the departmental rules severely said the ADG.

In addition, the necessary police force has also been deployed at all the places to maintain peace and rule of law added ADG while responding to the questions of media men.

The senior officers are in contact with the family members and they are satisfied with the police action n the police is fully cooperating with the family as well added ADG Rajiv Krishna.

He further said thag he too has issued necessary strict instructions and directives that no laxity should be taken in this or any other case and should be taken seriously.

Regarding a question of the grievance of the family of the deceased ADG Rajiv Krishan said that they have complained about Arun having been allegedly physically thrashed and tortured resulting in his death in police custody said the additional director general to the media. He assured no guilty police official will be spared and dealt with severely.

It may be recalled that the Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi who visited the bereaved family of late Arun Balmiki to express her condolences and part grief with the anguished dalit family was taken into preventive custody by the UP police on Delhi Agra Highway with hundreds of Congress workers and leaders raising anti govt slogans protesting against their leader’s arrest but after two hours of hectic negotiations she was finally allowed to move ahead.
