ACTOR SUNNY DEOL’S VILLA AUCTION MATTER RESOLVED AS BOB COMES OUT WITH A CLARIFICATION ON TECHNICAL GROUNDS. CONGRESS LEADER RAMESH SAYS PUBLIC OUTCRY AND MEDIA REPORTS THE REASON BEHIND THIS !
The eminent Bollywood actor whose film GADAR 2 has hit box office after its pan India release two weeks ago giving the staggering business of Rs 232 crores Sunny Deol has now been exonerated of the charge of being a defaulter in Rs 56 crores loan taken by him in 2015 -16 at least for now and not paid till date against whom the Bank of Baroda management has issued the newspaper advertisements for sale of his Villa in Mumbai known as Sunny Villa to arrange the payment of Rs 56 crites through Auction in the month of September. In yesterday’s newspapers there were big news about this sale of Sunny Deol’s Mumbai Villa through auction for which the Bank of Baroda management has advertised in several newspapers about the auction sale. However, after the news spread, the renowned actor and Gurdaspur MP was given quite a relief yesterday by the same BOB management giving him the expeditious relief on technical grounds. However, this swiftness in action allegedly favouring a ruling party MP and a renowned actor has not been taken earlier especially when one has to pay back Rs 56 crores pending against him since 2015-16. While everyone was surprised the senior Congress leader and the communication department of Congress chief and former union environment minister Jai Ram Ramesh was more surprised on this alleged quick favour compelling him to write a post in social media. Awestruck Jairam Ramesh wrote on X earlier twitter saying : Undoubtedly, the public outcry and the media coverage has led the Bank of Baroda to issue a clarification on the so called ” technical reasons “, behind its withdrawal of its notice of yesterday regarding the property of BJP MP Sunny Deol. There will be no auction. Hopefully there will be action in recovering Rs. 56 crores owed to it by the MP tweeted Ramesh. About 82.7 thousand twitter followers of his have viewed it .
On the other hand the Bank of Baroda has in its statement clarified that since the borrower has, approached the Bank for setting the dues as per the sale notice published on 20 th August 2013 where the borrowers/ guarantors were notified that they are entitled to redeem the securities by paying the dues/ costs/ charges and expenses at any time before the sale is processed. Therefore the sale is now withdrawn as per the normal industry practice followed in other cases as well. The other technical reasons given in the statement are : First, the total dues did not specify the exact quantum of dues to be recovered and secondly, the sale notice was based on a symbolic possession of the property as per rule 8 (6) of the Security Interest ( Enforcement) Rules 2002.An application has been made by physical possession by the Bank with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on 01 st August, 2023 which us pending for permission. Since the units running as conveyed to us by the borrower, sale action will be initiated as per the provisions of the SARFAESI Act, once the physical possession is taken. But now since the borrower has assured to comply with the sale notice conditions to settle the dues, the sale notice is withdrawn says the statement of BOB. Sounds interesting, the swiftness with which the case was settled despite the news appearing in all leading newspapers and sale auction notice published too publicly.
Kindly recall that Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol including their father Dharmendra has stood as guarantors on behalf of their firm and mortgaged the property of Deol against a loan of 51 crores for a film which couldn’t farewell. The outstanding of Rs 56 crores was pending against the Deols. Since the GADAR 2 has given quite a good business of Rs 232 crores in just two weeks , the BOB management found this a right moment to strike the iron since it is hot. It published a notice of sale of Sunny Villa in papers to be sold through auction to recover Rs 56 crores. But within no time after the news appeared in leading news papers n channels the BOB came with the clarification as above and the matter seemed to have been settled amicably. Renowned actor Dharmendra has been the MP from Rajasthan and his second wife actress Hema Malini is second term MP from Mathura while Sunny Deol is, MP from Gurdaspur. However, his performance has not been to the mark in his constituency in terms of his availability and resolution of the grievances of the local electorates reveal sources.
