A Muslim youth was beaten to death on suspicion of cow slaughter in the Mandi Samiti area of Moradabad district in Uttar Pradesh due to which tension has reportedly spread in the area.
After conducting the post-mortem late at night, the body of the youth was cremated by his family members on Tuesday morning amidst heavy deployment of police force. Police force has also been deployed in many Muslim dominated areas.
Moradabad divisional commissioner Aunjaneya Kumar Singh said the law and order situation was under full control.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kumar Ranvijay Singh said some people had caught Shahideen (29) of Asalatpura area from the Mandi Samiti premises at around 3.30 am on Monday.
It is alleged that he was slaughtering a cow with three people. The crowd, angry with the cow slaughter, beat up the youth badly with sticks and rods. Due to this, he was seriously injured. He died in Moradabad District Hospital. The post-mortem of the body was done at night and the last rites were performed in the presence of the family in the morning.
