A WOMEN CUTTING GRASS FOR DOMESTIC ANIMALS ATTACKED BY MANEATER IN PAABO BLOCK, PAURI GARHWAL

The man eaters attack in Uttarakhand have become the order of the day, this being a very common phrase these days and me too mentioning it earlier, think that it will end soon. But unfortunately the predator’s attack continues unabated. Just today a village woman who had gone to nearby fields and jungle for arranging green fodder for the domestic animals was attacked by a maneater leopard, However, the brave woman fought bravely and was lucky enough to bring herself out from the its deadly clutches. This fearful incident occurred at 10 in the morning at MARKHOLA VILLAGE under Chamkeshwar post office, Paabo block, Pauri Garhwal when a maneater leopard clandestinely pounced on a woman busy cutting grass for her domestic animals. The woman in her fifties instead of surrendering to the predator fought bravely creating noise and getting rid of the maneater with her hands, head and other body parts beating the wounds of the paws of the leopard. After the struggle with the deadly carnivore the brave woman saved herself compelling the maneater to leave her running away in the jungle. The panicked villagers are lauding the brave woman for fighting with the maneater compelling him to run away a rare incident of bravery. Unfortunately due to massive unfriendly development in the name of all weather roads, construction of concrete structures in abundance cutting jungles including heavy traffic creating sound pollution excessively the otherwise peaceful lives of the leopards, tigers and other animals have been badly disturbed and have left their usual habitats resulting in the carnivores not getting enough flesh finally compelling them to come towards human habitats in search of food. In the absence of domestic animals in villages, these leopards taste human blood ultimately becoming maneaters. Several deadly incidents of human kills in villages, roadsides, from house compounds, even maneaters entering houses have been reported from Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand in which women working in agricultural fields, in jungles, near houses and children playing in house compounds including senior citizens have become direct victims of these maneaters. It may be recalled that after the increasing incidents of MANEATER lynchings and subsequent anger of the villagers of Uttarakhand, the CM Pushkar Singh Dhami was constrained to enhance the budget of monetary compensation to the bereaved families of the victims of wild animals attacks to Rs 6 lakhs from 3 lakhs and Rs 1 lakh as compensation for those grievously injured in such deadly attacks.
