On Thursday tremendous confrontation between the activists of Bhim Army, followers of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and the BJP activists erupted which finally got converted into a riotous situation leading to a section of angered people pelting stones on the statue of Dr. Sardar Patel at the disputed venue.
According to the latest news a, piece of land was disputed between the Wards number 2, 8 and 9 in Ujjain, Madhya, Pradesh. In this area a large number of people believing in the ideals of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar reside. They also support the Bhim Army organisation and see of the view that the statue of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar is installed here.
However, the Bhartiya Janata Party had during the last two elections announced and promised to construct the statue of Irina man Sardar Patel. The name of the new bus stand was named after the architect of Indian Constitution Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
On Thursday at Maakdon area in Ujjain two warring groups came against each other in head on collision course. The controversy and riotous erupted after a section of the people started pelting stones and destroying the statue of Sardar Patel.
A section of angered and badly furious people riding on a tractor literally destroyed the statue if Sardar Patel including or pelting stones and hitting it with rods. This resulted in the other section becoming badly enraged. Both the groups got entangled in lathi charge and stone pelting etc. Several cars were literally burnt. Some shops were also stoned and destroyed. During the pelting of stones Inspector Lalchand was injured and some people as well. The Patidaar Community is demanding the installation box Sardar Patel’s statue. The matter is currently under the consideration of the Punchayat.
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi chief and former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav wrote on social media platform X : In Ujjain, in front of the BJP government’s police who became a silent statue, such a disgusting behavior with the statue of Sardar Patel, a true patriot who united the country, is highly condemnable and punishable. This shows that the claim made by the BJP to build the world’s largest statue was just a conspiracy to take political advantage. Every accused involved in this incident should be identified and punitive action should be taken immediately. This is nothing less than treason. Respecting the men of the nation: What do those who have no contribution in the national movement know? Expecting patriotism from informers is meaningless. What was most worrisome aspect of the situation was the police was a mere spectator in Ujjain when angered protestors were throwing stones and hitting with iron roads the statue of Sardar Patel in the open.
