A legendary singer and lyricist of Uttarakhand Jagdish Bakrola is no more. Breathed his last at RML hospital

Leading Uttarakhand singer and lyricist visually handicapped who has given his melodious voice to hundreds of Garhwali , Kumaoni songs in his mesmerising musical albums and Uttarakhand film songs is no more.

He breathed his last at the RML hospital sending shock waves in Uttarakhand among the music lovers and cultural fraternity.

A popular singer singing Uttarakhand’s especially Garhwali melodious mesmerising songs for the last several decades Jagdish Bakrola was visually handicapped but was still the charming singer loved by one and all.

He was awarded with several prestigious awards.

Among his umpteen cassettes and CDs of melodious songs and interesting lyrics in Garhwali dialects sung by him as well as many popular female singers of his popular Albums were Bashyal Ghugutee , lyrics by Bakrola, sung by Sunita Belwal, Subdaron ki Chilabazi sing by Bakrola and Vina Bhandari, Garhwali Diyurji, by Bakrola and Sunila Belwal, Daandapani Muni Aadim by Bakrola, Miltri ku chira by Jagdish Bakrola and Sunita Belwal, Jija Meeta ( CD of old Garhwali sings ) by Jagdish Bakrola, Binsari Bateen by Jagdish Bakrola and Deepa Chouhan, Chod de myaru haath by Jagdish Bakrola and Sunita Belwal, Pappu Ka Pitaji by Bakrola and Sunita Belwal , Nach meri Beera etc etc. There are many other hit song CDs of his – loved and adored by his thousands of fans. His songs were very popular online and thousands of his fans used to hear and watch them online. Bakrola has written songs in every situation especially his songs were humourous with the blend of romanticism aswell. He has also performed on hundreds of stages in Uttarakhand, Delhi, NCR and other states of the country including abroad as well. Conclusively he has sung songs in hundreds of CDs and cassettes and has done countless stage shows. Famous folk singers of that time like Rekha Dhasmana, Uniyal, Sunita Belwal, Chandrakanta Sundririyal, Santosh Sharma Badoni have sung songs with him and shared the stage. The magic of his voice prevailed from 1981 to 1995.

Sudden passing away of Jagdish Bakrola is indeed a huge loss to Uttarakhand, its musical and cultural fraternity leaving a vast vaccum difficult to be filled. It is truly an end of an era said the Director of Press Club of India and president of Uttarakhand Journalists Forum Sunil Negi.
