A JEWELLER EASILY DUPED OF TWO HEAVY GOLD CHAINS BY A CONMAN IN CHANDNI CHOWK ON LINE. BEWARE !
Though the present generation feel very blessed and fortunate to have the latest hi tech electronic gadgets especially mobiles for bringing the world so near but it equally has its own severe consequences with young desperate boys for selfies dying brutal deaths on running trains and elsewhere doing feats to impress others and cyber crime crossing all limits literally hacking bank accounts, social media accounts like Facebook and duping people of money via online on massive scale. These cyber gangs operating from distant parts of the country are far away and beyond the reach of the cyber police with the authorities almost ineffective, despite trying their best and catching some of these cyber crime operators. On 24 th August and the other day a very interesting case of this duping took place when a clever, notorious Conman easily duped a CHANDNI CHOWK’S jeweller of two heavy gold chains worth Rs 3 lakhs likely to dupe him for another Rs 2.56 lakhs’ worth of gild ornaments but became cautious of being trapped in police net. He is still out of police net and the CHANDNI chowk police and cyber sleuths badly behind him but of no avail. It so happened that on 24 th August a son of the owner of N. K. Jeweller in CHANDNI chowk running their business for more than five decades, received a phone call from a CONMAN saying that he is in Khan Market and busy somewhere, but want to buy a gold chain for which he will send the money on line.
The details of the bank were sent by the jeweller thinking that the customer must be busy so what’s the big deal to send him the gold chain after he ( jeweller) receives the money.
After some time he received the money on line and also the bank message on the phone, which was actually not from the bank but the conman himself, a self created one with utmost dexterity. The CONMAN received the gold chain downstairs not in the house of the said location but outside and takes the delivery. The jeweller after acknowledging the payment confirmed from the bank too , probably because the same message was sent to bank by the conman. The jeweller there after became sure that all is well.
The other day too, another heavy chain was of three tolas ( more than 30 grams) was ordered by the CONMAN over phone who told the jeweller that since he is busy in the meeting he can’t come personally and would like the gold chain to be delivered through their staff either near metro station or another location that he will suggest lateron. The buyer had made the payment of nearly 1.85 lakhs and sent the message to the jeweller who again trusting him send the chain, through his men and was delivered. However, this message was self created by CONMAN in the same style as banks’ messages are sent.
This confused the jeweller who thought that the message is from the bank. But after deeply checking with the bank the other day it was revealed that the bank has received no payment . The jeweller soon realised that he has been duped of two Gold chains by a CONMAN worth Rs three lakhs.
A complaint was lodged with the cyber crime and the CHANDNI Chow police with FIRs lodged who are still on look out for this imposter and cheat. When this cheating took place the owner father of this jewellery shop had gone to Ayodhya for a week for paying obeisance to Lord Rama. The messages about the payments ( receipts) etc were acknowledged by father on his mobile phone and his son who was looking after the shop got permission from his father who wasn’t so vigilant and this the entire duping operation went on successfully by the conman, who is, still at large. The Banking APP to check the payments was loaded on the owner father’s phone who was in Ayodhya and therefore the son couldn’t confirm from the APP nor his father as well who was busy in religious rituals in Ayodhya.
What is interesting about this entire episode is when the Conman thought that all went well while duping two gold chains as there is no news in papers he for the third time tried his luck and again phoned the jeweller for third deal of Rs. 2.56 thousands worth of gold ornaments sending the so called payment via mobile with payment slip. The jeweller though informed the police who gave him permission to call him in CHANDNI CHOWK or Red fort area for the delivery. The jeweller therefore asked the CONMAN to come to CHANDNI CHOWK or Red fort precincts but he wasn’t prepared to come there. He asked the delivery to be done in South Delhi’s metro railway station. Since the jeweller was pressing him to come to CHANDNI CHOWK metro station the jeweller sensed something doubtful and didn’t accept the jeweller’s proposal finally closing his mobile phone and absconding. The police is on the look out.
