A grand cultural evening organised to commemorate the Silver Jubilee Foundation day of Uttarakhand at Delhi Haat Pitampura by UEM, Pitampura


The Uttarakhand Ekta Manch , Pitampura organised a grand event at Delhi Haat , Pitampura on 9 th November evening in a glittering function commemorating the Silver Jubilee year and foundation day of Uttarakhand formed on 9 th November 2000 after the invaluable martyrdom of forty six movement activists. The Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta was to attend the event as the chief guest but couldn’t make it due to her pre – occupation.

However, the deputy speaker of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha and six term law maker from the national capital territory Mohan Singh Bisht attended the event and stayed there till the last.

The editor in chief of News Nation channel Mr. Manoj Gairola and the Secretary of the Uttarakhand academy Sanjay Garg were the special guests of honour including the ex SDM Subodh Rawat.

The programme started with the lightening of the lamp by the guests and the office bearers of Uttarakhand  Ekta Manch, Pitampura with mesmerising songs of Uttarakhand presented by several eminent singers of Kumaon and Garhwal including Vivek Nautiyal and Durga Singh including an impressive dance presentation by Bhavna Joshi.

Several prominent figures of Uttarakhand in Delhi were felicitated on this ocassion including leading entrepreneur and social activist K.S.Bisht, Balwant Singh Negi, Sunil Negi, senior journalist, Rakhi Bisht, gold medalist teacher and eminent actress Manju Bahuguna.

The editor in Chief of News Nation channel Mr.Manoj Gairola was also felicitated with a patta and an Aipan.

Addressing the enthusiastic crowd the deputy chief minister of Delhi assembly and the editor in chief of News Nation Mohan Singh Bisht and Manoj Gairola expressed the need for unity among Uttarakhandies in Delhi to claim their adequate share in assembly and the MCD . They said that the people of Uttarakhand are in all the top positions in and outside government including in every sphere of life in the national capital including twenty five to thirty lakhs in numbers but are lacking in sharing political power, the reason being lack of unity.

Therefore both the speakers stressed the need for the unity among the Uttarakhand’s population in Delhi irrespective of their ideological affiliations to become a power to reckon with and get the justifiable share in the power set up of the national capital.

The Souvenir of the Uttarakhand Ekta Manch was also released on this ocassion.

The audience enjoyed the mesmerising musical evening to the hilt and were served the delicious dinner at the end of the event. Kudos. The people were in large atte dence making the event remarkable and highly impressive.
