A globally renowned melodious voice – eminent singer Asha Bhonsle breathed her last at the age of 92

Eminent melodious singer who had given voice to more than 12 thousand mesmerising songs in twenty different languages , majority of them in Hindi with 11 thousand solo songs, Asha Bhonsle is no more who breathed her last in Mumbai at the age of 92. The second wife of Late R.D. Burman, a musical guru and outstanding music composer of Bollywood Asha Bhonsle died of age related ailments after prolonged illness. She died of multi organ failure after she was admitted in Beach Candy hospital.
The state government will accord her the national honour oriented ceremonial send if with twenty one cannon salute with her body draped in the national flag. She was admitted in Beach Candy hospital yesterday evening with multy organ failure related complications. He body has been kept in Shivaji park for last obeusance.
Born on 8 September 1933 a globally renowned singer Asha Bhonsle was an Indian playback singer, entrepreneur, actress and television personality who predominantly worked in Indian cinema as a renowned singer.
Her father Mr. Mangeshkar the then musician died at the age of nine and the entire responsibility of the family kued in the shoulders of her elder sister Lata who started singing to earn livelihood of the family. Asha too cane intknsungung and supported the family at such a tender age.
Known for her versatility, she had been described in the media as one of the greatest and most influential singer who had over eight decades recorded songs for
films and albums in various Indian languages and received several accolades including two National Film Awards, four BFJA Awards, eighteen Maharashtra State Film Awards, nine Filmfare Awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award and a record seven Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer, in adition to two Grammy nominations.
In 2000, she was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest award in the field of cinema.
In 2008, she was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian honour of the country. The Guinness Book of World Records acknowledged her in 2011 as the most recorded artist in music history.
The passing away of Asha Bhonsle is indeed an end of an era as first her sister Kara Mangeshkar died and then she , thus losing two most demanding melodious singers India has ever seen and will see in future. RIP
