A credible policy is the need of the hour for the Ghasiyaris of Uttarakhand . Delegation submits memo to UK CM through the Resident Commissioner Delhi

On October 30, 2025,

Under the banner of Sarvbhaumik Social Organization, the enlightened people of Uttarakhand society, under the leadership of Universal President and former President of Garhwal Hitaishi Sabha Delhi, Ajay Singh Bisht, met the Residential Commissioner, Uttarakhand Government regarding Ghasyari Policy.

Various aspects of this policy were discussed for about one and a half hours and a memorandum was also submitted in this regard to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

Today, nearly 1,700 villages in Uttarakhand, plagued by migration, have become haunted.

Meanwhile, the very axis of Uttarakhand’s life is either being lost or permanently disabled.

Yesterday, on 26th October, 2025, a woman from village Ranadi under Dunda tehsil, while cutting grass, got hit by a rolling rock and tragically succumbed to severe injuries.

Unfortunately, deaths of Ghashyaris due to pig, tiger, bear attack or snake bite is a common phenomena, and they can be of any age group,

In case of an accident, they leave behind their small children or are forced to live a dependent and painful life throughout their lives.

Only Ghashyari can keep the mountains alive, inhabited and safe, but this hardworking women class of the mountains has always been a victim of the indifference of the successive  governments.

The delegation demand that the Uttarakhand government should make a concrete credible policy for the safety, protection and better life of Ghashyari.

In that policy, a provision of Rs. 5 lakh should be made in case of injury and Rs. 10 lakh in case of death.

Ajay Singh Bisht, Jailal Navani, Subhash Chandra Nautiyal, Brijendra Rawat, Pratap Thalwal and Resident Commissioner along with two other officers were present in this meeting.

Everyone praised this policy, as it will keep the economic, social and cultural wheels of the villages of Uttarakhand moving despite the complex situations.

The delegation emphasised  that the government will be sensitive towards those hardworking women who have kept the deserted villages of Uttarakhand alive.

During discussions with the resident commissioner the members of the  delegation said that   this policy can become the mantra to repopulate the villages of Uttarakhand and an asset for the these hardworking women of the villages of Uttarakhand.
The resident commissioner gave a patient hearing to the members of the delegation and assured of his fullest cooperation including ensuring that the memorandum is duly sent to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
