A dreaded man-eater leopard has brutally killed a child in Daang village, at Srinagar Garhwal while another child has been brutally injured by another, may be the same man-eater in Srinagar area today. One of the injured child is admitted at AIIMS Rishikesh. There is another news of a wild beer having brutally injured a child in Pokhri village, near Kaljikhal block under Pauri Garhwal district administration. There is panic in these areas with panic stricken residents of Pauri Garhwal district demanding the man-eater to be killed, tranquilized or caged and taken to zoo. In Uttarakhand, especially in Pauri Garhwal district and several districts of Kumaon division like Pithoragarh and Nainital, the man-eaters are extremely active wandering near human habitats on roadsides and even near village peripherals in search of human flesh as there is extremely shortage of food inside forest especially since the fire breaking out in massive jungles of Uttarakhand destroying its flora and fauna and forcing carnivores to go to safer places inhabited by human population. The leading English professor and Sahitya Academy President’s award winner Dr. D C Purohit while expressing his resentment over the children being gravely injured and killed by dreaded man-eaters said that the services of the real hunter Joy Hukeel or Lakhpat Singh Rawat need to be taken to get rid of such man-eaters.
