A BOY GOING TO PERFORM THE “BARSEE” OF HIS LATE FATHER DUPED OF HIS BAG CONTAINING EXPENSIVE LAPTOP, MOBILE AND OTHER IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS ETC IN DELHI HARIDWAR BUS

The incidents of bags and valuables being stolen inside buses and trains, especially buses commuting to hill stations or spiritual destinations are allegedly on the rise with such incidents becoming frequent and local police though trying their best but couldn’t cope with this menace.

Several incidents are hardly reported as passengers are scare and have no time or in some cases they have no alternative but to avoid the legal wranglings involved in pushing such matters with those involved in these illegal acts taking advantage.

A man travelling with family or children if confronted with such awful situations of being duped, or the victim of snatching or disappearance of his or her bags containing money, laptops, expensive ID phones or other valuables like jewellery etc in buses or elsewhere has to satisfy himself with just lodging a complaint at the police station and solely depending on the assurance of the SHO of the concerned PS who usually has the stereotype logic that FIR couldn’t be lodged as if you do so you’ll have to come here number of times making the complainant of double mind agreeing to just give a written complaint with police saying that as and when the culprit is caught or the lost items recovered , the complainant would be duly informed , thus becoming the thing of the past gradually with the complainant forgetting it, once for all.

One such incident happened with one passenger of Garhwal living in Delhi who boarded a Delhi Haridwar, Uttarakhand transport bus on 9 th April till Haridwar from ISBT to perform the “BARSEE of his late father who died a month ago in a Delhi NCR hospital. The boy named Harish Raturi with a bag containing an expensive lap top, nobile phones , money, cheque books and other important documents had a nap in the bus on the way. He had kept his bag on the vacant seat. The culprit who hired the bust from Delhi a stop next to ISBT at Jamuna Bazaar, Delhi , who got down at Haridwar got up and pretended that he is carrying his bag but instead left his own bag and lifted the bag of the complainant containing the expensive laptop, mobile phones and other items and got down. While he was deboarding the bus , he is clearly seen carrying the bag of Harish Raturi conveniently on the CCTV footage.

However, when the complainant was deboarding his bus he found his bag missing. He complained to the conductor and driver and searched the entire bus but on no avail. The bag left by the culprit contained a pair of socks and two used cheap shirts n a charger. This is actually the modus operandi of these bag lifters who leave behind their bags and lift the passengers items/ bags to give the impression that they are carrying their own bags.

After reaching the last stop the CCTV footage was analysed and it was found that the bag lifters is doing his job very immaculately leaving his bag and lifting the bag containing the laptop of the complainant Harish Tiwari.

On enquiry, the name of the bag lifters was revealed as Kamal and the Police of Kankhal, Haridwar where the complaint was lodged didn’t lodged the FIR saying that if they do so, he ( complainant ) will have to come regularly. Therefore, Harish had no option but to agree to the logic of the police. The local police assured the complainant of expeditious action in this regard and would inform him as soon as they crack the case. The video footage etc are with the police of Haridwar, Kankhal and must be definitely doing their best to bring the culprit to justice.
