Umakant Lakhera and his entire team wins in PCI Elections. Heartiest Congratulations

The counting of the Press Club of India is likely to finish. The Umakant Lakhera panel is leading on all seats with his supporters in jubilant mode. The elections of PCI were held on 21 st May and the counting on 22 nd. Umakant Lakhera repeated this time as well with election results likely to be officially announced shortly by the chief election commissioner MMC Sharma.

This triumph is being considered as a great victory as this election held after Covid 19 challenging period was exploited by the opposition panels to seek advantage, but the outstanding contribution of the previous team led by Umakant Lakhera was tremendous, enticing majority of voters in its favour.

Nearly 1791 journalists recognised n rewarded Umakant Lakhera for his outstanding achievements during the most challenging Covid 19 period not only by way of dedicated PCI staff n members supplying thousands of food packets to the needy but also paid salaries to the entire staff including carrying out the renovation work of the club giving it a new shape including fulfilling other previous promises and completing several other important projects. Despite getting few months to perform due to dreaded pandemic, the dedicated management committee of PCI led by Umakant Lakhera as its capable president not only fought for journalists’ rights by organising protest demonstrations, seminars, meetings but also resolved several important grievances of journalists pertaining to entry of accredited journalists in Parliament restricted by the government including vaccinations during Covid times with supply of oxymetres, Concentrators, organisation of health camps and Covid Consultations at Appollo and Fortis hospitals. A refurbished media room with photo shop specially for photographers to file their stories from the club was also arranged including media, workshops with institutions like google and CPJ to upgrade the skills of the members etc.
