Congress leaders Ragini Nayak, Ganesh Godiyal and Jyoti Rautela etc seek support for Anukriti Gusain in Lansdowne constituency of Pauri Garhwal district
The election campaigning in Uttarakhand has reached its peak with BJP and Congress leaders canvassing in support of their respective candidates as hardly a week is left for the state polling, scheduled for 14 th February. The counting is on 10 th March.
The chief election strategist of Uttarakhand Congress Harish Rawat and Uttarakhand Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal who are themselves contesting from Lalkuan and Srinagar Garhwal seats have come out of their respective constituencies in support of their candidates while the Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Madan Kaushik have also been campaigning for BJP candidates leaving their own constituencies viz Khatima and Haridwar.
The Lansdowne Assembly seat from where former beauty queen and model, having been earlier Miss India Delhi and stood third in prestigious Miss Universe contest and daughter in law of former cabinet minister and a political heavy weight Dr. Harak Singh Rawat now in Congress, Anukriti Gusain is the Congress candidate who is fighting against the two term BJP lawmaker Mahant Dilip Rawat.
She has been working hard to serve the people of this constituency for the last several months running her NGO for the welfare of destitute children and women.
Today Lansdowne was the political arena of the star campaigners of Congress party with Ragini Nayak, national spokesperson of All India Congress Committee and former leader of Delhi University, Uttarakhand Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal, Mahila Congress chief of Uttarakhand Jyoti Rautela, former District Punchayat president Deepti Rawat, Ranjana Rawat and Lansdowne Old, Students Association president Dr. S. P. Naithani going door to door in support of Congress candidate Anukriti Gusain and addressing a well attended public meeting.
The former Mayor of Jharkhand and observer Rama Khalko and Dr. Harak Singh Rawat former cabinet minister in Congress n BJP government also addressed the rally.
The public meeting anchored by City Congress president Mahipal Singh Rawat was a grand success as people gathered there raised their hands in unanimity to extend their wholehearted support to the Congress candidate.
Anukriti Gusain has the advantage of being the daughter of Lansdowne and people are extending their whole hearted support out of nostalgia, her capabilities and she also being a young blood full of energy and enthusiasm to serve the people of this constituency.
The rally was commenced after paying heartfelt tributes to the legendary singer and Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar by standing in silence for two minutes in honour of the departed soul.
The people of Lansdowne constituency in particular and of Garhwal Uttarakhand in general are annoyed due to surging inflation especially the hiked prices of domestic gas to Rs. 900 and Petrol, diesal crossing Rs. Hundred beyond the reach of a common man compounded with deteriorating health services, massive unemployment, poor quality of education and corruption.
The rally was held at Green Field grounds with every speaker criticizing the ruling party government for its apathetic and negligent attitude and poor governance changing three CMs during their term and nit coming true to their expectations allegedly collaborating with land, illegal mining and contractor mafias with skyrocketing inflation and massive exodus of villagers to towns, cities and metropolises fir want if jobs, better heath facilities and quality education fir their children.
It may be recalled that the Congress party is majorly nanking on the anti incumbency factor against the ruling political dispensation as people of Uttarakhand allegedly seems to be fed up with the present ruling party say political analysts.
