Big jolt to Congress after former union state minister home n tall Congress leader of eastern UP RPN Singh joins BJP

The Congress party at the centre, especially in Uttar Pradesh during the ongoing elections suffered a huge setback when its important leader of estern Uttar Pradesh and former union minister of state , close to Rahul Gandhi earlier RPN Singh quit the party and joined BJP in Delhi today.

He was associated with the Congress party for the last thirty two years.

Leaving the party without any earlier indications, this is indeed a great setback to Priyanka Gandhi as well, who in her capacity as the general secretary in charge have been working tirelessly in entire Uttar Pradesh singlehandedly with immense grit, guts and determination.

She had even responded irritatingly few days ago to the media, saying, if they had seen anyone else working in Congress in UP when questioned by the media as to who is the chief minister face of Congress in Uttar Pradesh. She meant that she is the one, and no one else, obviously.

Addressing the media seated with Mr Pradhan, the senior BJP leader n union minister and other leaders, former union minister of state in Dr. Manmohan Singh’s government R P N Singh and tall Congress leader from eastern Uttar Pradesh said that I had been asked by my colleagues since long that I should join the BJP.

After giving a protracted thought and finding Congress in a weak position, not what it used to be earlier, vanishing from the political scene gradually, he joined Congress, expressing his tremendous confidence on PM, after being overwhelmingly impressed by prime minister Modi’s dashing leadership to the nation and UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s not only cumulatively leading eastern Uttar Pradesh to over all development but wiping our crime from the state, as well.

However, he did not utter a single word against the Congress leadership n Sonia, Rahul or Priyanka Gandhi assuring the BJP leadership to serve the party with full wholeheartedness as an ordinary BJP worker.

It may be recalled that earlier minister in Congress govt during Dr. Manmohan Singh’s tenure n presently union minister in BJP govt Jyotiraditya Rao Scindia and former union minister Jitin Prasad had also joined BJP expressing their annoyance towards, Congress with the former Punjab CM Captain Amrinder Singh having formed his own political party in league with BJP, likely to merge it with the saffron party after elections reveal sources. While Jyotiraditya Scindia was coopted in Rajya Sabha first and then made union minister, the former Congress leader Jitun Prasad was appointed as the minister in UP.

There are reports that the sudden exit of the eastern Congress leader from Congress to BJP is due to majority of his close leaders being denied Congress tickets and not given enough weightage by the party leadership especially Priyanka Gandhi. There are also reports of RPN Singh being made to contest against SP’s Swami Prasad Maurya, a former minister who had joined Samajwadi party few days ago quitting as the minister. However, his daughter who is BJP MP has remained in the saffron party expressing her full confidence in the leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi. Similarly, Aparna Yadav daughter in law of Mulaayam Singh Yadav’s son from his second wife Sadhna also joined the BJP few days, ago. MP in the 15 th Lok Sabha from Kushinagar, Kunwar Ratan Pratap Narain Singh, popularly known as the Raja Saheb of Padrauna is 57 years old educated from Doon School. He was union home minister from 2012 to 2014. In his two tweets RPN Singh tweeted : Today at a time we are celebrating the formation of our great Republic, I began a new chapter in my political journey, Jai Hind further tweeting : This is a new beginning for me and I look forward to my contribution to nation building under the visionary leadership and guidance of honourable prime minister @narendramodi, BJP President Shri@JPNaddaji and Honourable Home Minister@AmitShah ji.

Before joining the BJP he sent his letter quitting Congress to Party president Sonia Gandhi stating : I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress with immediate effect. I thank you for providing me an opportunity to serve the nation, people and the party. With best regards wrote former State Home minister to Congress chief in his resignation letter.

Those who welcomed former Congress leader n home minister RPN Singh in the party were union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, deputy CM UP Mr. Maurya, union minister Anurag Thakur, Mr Pradhan and UP BJP chief Swatantra Singh. RPN Singh and Soniya Singh hus, wife are reportedly stake holders in a news channel.
