Delhi is number one in the world in providing maximum number of CCTV cameras to ensure women safety says Arvind Kejriwal

The national capital territory of Delhi is number one in terms of providing maximum numbers of CCTV cameras in Delhi in the entire world with London on second number and New York, Singapore, Canada and other countries lagging far behind.

This was disclosed by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal while addressing a virtual press conference today. Patting his government for this awesome achievement which has resulted in controlling crime against women ensuring safety of the most vulnerable section of the society including catching the criminals in the legal net, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said that till now  the national capital has two lakh seventy five thousand ( 2,75000)  CCTV Cameras with 1 lakh forty thousand ( 1,40000) cameras to be provided from now onwards.

In India too Delhi is number one with Chennai being in second position though far behind. Arvind Kejriwal disclosed that in Delhi the government has installed more than 18,500 cameras in per square mile area whereas in London there are only 1100 CCTV cameras in per square mile areas. Other countries are far far behind he added. Now Delhi will be having total four lakhs fifteen thousand CCTV cameras which will help in controlling and reducing not only the crime against women ensuring their safety and security but will also help in tracing and trapping the criminals involved in various nature of crimes. He added that the Delhi government has installed these cameras on road sides at vital points, Resident Welfare Associations, streets, various localities, schools, institutions, colleges, govt and private  buildings, markets, parks and areas that are vulnerable for crimes.

Expressing his happiness over this record breaking work by the Delhi government Arvind Kejriwal said that he remembers vividly that when they brought the proposal to LG’s knowledge they had to  confront tremendous problems compelling them to undertake Dharna outside the LG office to get the approval for this project. Then me, deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Gopal Rai, minister had to sit on Dharna outside the LG’s office finally getting the necessary approval.
