Scam in the purchase of sub standard 66,600 sarees and ladies suits for Anganwadi workers in Ukhand for Rs 2.60 crores, CM oders probe

A shocking scam has allegedly come into light in Uttarakhand about a massive fraud in the purchase of sarees and Salwar Kameez for Anganwadi employees worth Rs. 2.60 crores which could have been purchased in half of the rates from wholesale market.

The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has issued necessary directives to the secretary of Women empowerment and child development to investigate the alleged scam relating to embezzlement of the government fund in this regard.

According to a news item in “Focus eye, the former Vice chairman of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam, a state ministerial rank, and president of Vikasnagar Jan Sangharsh Morcha Raghunath Singh Negi has alleged that recently the women empowerment and child development department, in Uttarakhand has allegedly purchased about 66,600 sarees and salwar kameez ( lady suits) of substandard quality for Rs 2.69 crores with each Saree and Salwar Kameez costing Rs. 393 and Rs. 398 respectively. These sarees and suits we’re bought for the Angadwadi workers of the state.

The president of the Vikasnagar Jan Sangharsh Morcha Raghunath Singh Negi had sensed a scam in these purchases at double the price as compared to the purchase done from the wholesale market and of substandard quality.

A crusader against corruption in Uttarakhand, Negi has complained about the matter to the chief minister doubting it to be a huge scam in the purchase and transfer of money through DBT.

The chief minister while sensing suspicion over this huge purchase of about 66,600 sarees and suits of substandard quality has ordered for an indepth probe recommending the case to secretary of department of women empowerment and child welfare.

According to Raghunath Singh Negi, the sarees and suits purchased by the aforesaid department are of such a substandard quality that they are not worth wearing and good for the anganwadi workers.

He said that as the Karmkari Kalyan Board of Uttarakhand has allegedly looted the labourers by massively purchasing substandard quality material, the women empowerment and child development department of Uttarakhand too has looted the angadwadi workers by doing a substandard quality purchase worth Rs 2.60 crores as per the news of ” Focus eye”,.

Mr Negi accused the corrupt officers of purchasing massive amount of sub standard quality of sarees and suits for earning hefty commissions thus deceiving the innocent women Anganwadi workers/ Matrishakti of Uttarakhand.

He categorically said that had this dress been purchased from the wholesale market it would have cost them just half the present rates.

The department has applied a separate print over them to misguide one and all. Not only this but on the purchase of mobile phones, kits, n other items these corrupt officers have betrayed the anganwadi workers, as well as general masses n the children as well added Raghunath Singh Negi. Kindly recall that Raghunath Singh Negi has been raising his voice against corruption in the state and is quite popular in the masses.
