New Delhi: A book dedicated to the life, achievements and contribution of legendary Indian shooter and coach Jaspal Rana, titled ‘Marveric Jaspal’, was launched at a special ceremony in Delhi on Monday. The book has been authored by senior sports editor S. Kannan.

The book launch ceremony was attended by several prominent personalities from the Indian sports fraternity. IOA President PT Usha, the CEO of the Indian Olympic Association, Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey, representatives of various sports federations and members of Jaspal Rana’s family were present on the occasion.

From his family, his father former sports minister and Dronacharya awardee Narayan Singh Rana, Dronacharya awardee Subhash Rana who is Paralympic shooting coach, Commonwealth Games gold medalist Sushma Rana, Divyanshi Rana, Yuvraj Rana along with family members of Raja Randhir and many people associated with sports remembered his memories and contributions.

Jaspal Rana is among those shooters of Indian shooting who enhanced India’s pride on the international stage and later as a coach also groomed a new generation of shooters. This book, which preserves his sporting career, personality and contribution to Indian shooting, has emerged as an important tribute to him.

Speakers at the ceremony said that Jaspal Rana’s story is not just a story of medals and achievements, but a story of dedication, discipline, family, sports culture and inspiring generations to come.

Through ‘Marveric Jaspal’ an attempt has been made to preserve his life and legacy in the form of a document, so that the coming generations can take inspiration from his struggle, achievements and his contribution to Indian sports. The launch ceremony, held in the presence of stalwarts of the sports world, became an emotional occasion dedicated to the immortal sporting legacy of Jaspal Rana.
