Dhirendra Pratap, Central Chief Patron of the Identified State Movement Joint Committee and Vice President of the Uttarakhand Congress, expressed deep sorrow and grief over the passing of Vimala Kothiyal, a renowned state formation activist from Srinagar.

Srinagar. A wave of grief has descended upon the passing of Vimala Kothiyal, a prominent figure in the statehood movement and a resident of Srinagar. Dhirendra Pratap, Central Chief Patron of the Identified Statehood Movement Joint Committee and Vice President of the Uttarakhand Congress, paid heartfelt tributes, saying that with her passing, a golden chapter of sacrifice and dedication to the statehood movement has ended forever.

Pratap recalled the historic contribution of Vimala Kothiyal, who was one of the key witnesses in the Muzaffarnagar incident that occurred on October 2, 1994. He said that Vimala Kothiyal made unparalleled sacrifices, risking her life, honor, and dignity, for the creation of the state of Uttarakhand. Her determination and struggle gave the movement a strong edge.

Dhirendra Pratap, becoming emotional, said, “The people of Uttarakhand will never forget the contributions of immortal activists like Vimala Kothiyal for centuries.

With her passing, we have lost a true activist and a source of inspiration. Today, every citizen of Uttarakhand is remembering her with folded hands.”

It is noteworthy that Vimala Kothiyal was one of the leading women leaders of the statehood movement in the Srinagar region. Locals, activists, and political figures have expressed deep condolences on her passing.
