Dehradun connection found in massive kidney racket busted at Kanpur , several arrested
A major Kidney transplant racket has been busted by the Uttar Pradesh police in Kanpur on the complaint of the Kidney donar who is the MBA student in Dehradun, Uttarakhand duped by the transplant racket kingpin by paying him merely 3.5 lakh rupees and pocketing a major part of the booty earned during the sale of the said kidney in allegedly Rs. Sixty lakhs.
Around twelve persons are believed to have been arrested in this massive kidney sale and transplant racket including five doctors.
The name of the donar is Ayush Kumar who was pursuing his MA from Dehradun but originally hails from Bihar/ Meerut.
According to various news reports after receiving the complaint from the donor who happened to be the MBA student from Dehradun, a raid was conducted in the hospital and other locations of the kidney kingpins and continued throughout the night in Kanpur.
A joint team of police and the health department arrested six people, including Dr. Surjeet Ahuja and Dr. Preeti Ahuja (IMA officials) initially. The figure if arrested persons thereafter reached to 12 including five doctors.
Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal stated that some people have been detained and are being questioned in connection with the case.
The police and health department team investigating the kidney racket also raided three hospitals late last night.
These include Priya Hospital and Trauma Center located in Kalyanpur Housing Development Number 1, Ahuja Hospital located on Keshavpuram Road, and MedLife Hospital located on Panki Kalyanpur Road.
The entire starling revelations came to light when the donor Ayush was given only Rs. 3.5 lakhs instead of Rs. Ten Lakhs as promised by the mediator broker Shivam Aggrawal though the kidney was further sold for transplant by the husband wife duo doctors and kingpin of the racket for allegedly Rs. 60 lakhs. One Shivam Aggrawal was the mediator who dealt with the donor Ayush, the MBA student of Uttarakhand.
