Its indeeda Good news for the socio – political activists of Joshimath who under the banner of Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samittee were struggling hard to seek justice when their houses and commercial buildings had developed cracks and they were literally in streets under extreme pitiable conditions during the extreme cold conditions including their children. The disaster victims on account of the massive subsidence in Joshimath were fully dusokaced with their lives in complete jeopardy. Over ine thousand houses had developed cracks and were not feasible to live in. The protestors have been demanding alternate accomodation, adequate financial compensation and complete rehabilitation. When their demands are not met they protested peaceful but were arrested and several cases lodged by the police against them making their lives mor complicated.
However, Tuesday marked the victory of justice for the activists who raised their voices to save Joshimath and defend the rights of the disaster-affected in 2023. Atul Sati, convener of the Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, shared the information, stating that after two years, the Honorable Court has issued a verdict in the cases filed by the government against the affected during the movement, in which all the comrades have been honorably acquitted.
The committee called it a victory of the people’s struggle, saying that false cases filed to harass disaster victims could not suppress the truth. Congratulating all the struggling comrades, Atul Sati clarified that their struggle to save Joshimath and ensure complete justice for the affected people will continue in the future.
