Thousands of Congressmen protest at parade ground in Dehradun against the deteriorating law and order situation, BJP days seemed to be numbered

Uttarakhand is in real mess. During the last eight – nine years of rule, the ruling political dispensation of the saffron party is under questions by the people of the state.

The badly deteriorating law and order situation in the Himalayan state after witnessing seven brutal murders of innocent girls and youths during the last seventeen days and sister of past murders with several scams and cases of massive corruption with the most sensitive case like the one of Ankita Bhandari and several other ones, the main opposition Congress in the state has got a golden oportunity to unify and protest massively.

On 16 th February thousands of people, the Congress activists led by its leader Ganesh Godiyal and several others staged a massive protest demonstration with with thousands of placards and party flags waving around and infuriated Congress workers in thousands raising anti government slogans demanding the resignation of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

The Indian National Congress today staged a sit-in protest in the state capital and marched to the Raj Bhavan to protest against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and the country and the recent atrocities on the people.

Thousands of activists had gathered at the parade grounds since morning. Led by state president Ganesh Godiyal, the processionists raised strong slogans against the government and directly questioned the law and order situation. Addressing the gathering, the leaders said that the daylight murders in several districts, including the capital Dehradun, have exposed the state’s lawlessness.

There is an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among the public, while the criminals are emboldened. The Congress Party accused the ruling government that during the last fifteen days, five heinous crimes have been committed in various districts of Uttarakhand including the capital, but till now all the accused have not been arrested.
Targeting the government, Pritam Singh, the head of the protest campaign committee, and Dr.Harak Singh Rawat, the head of the election management committee, said that the increasing incidents of crime in the state known as “Devbhoomi” are very worrying. Uttarakhand Women’s Congress President Jyoti Rautela expressed concern about the safety of women and said that the increase in crimes against women raises questions about the priorities of the government and their reckless negligence in protecting the state women community.

The Uttarakhand Congress Committee placed the following demands before the police administration:
-Special intensive campaigns should be launched in sensitive and crime-prone areas.
-Strict action should be taken against organized crime and history-sheeter criminals.

Ensure timely and thorough investigations of serious criminal incidents.
-Police administration should be held accountable and strict disciplinary action should be taken for negligence.
-Massive and effective steps should be taken to instill a sense of security among the public.

The leaders warned that if the law and order situation does not come back on track, then Congress will resort to massive movement in the state aggressively . They said that this struggle is for the security of the people and restoration of justice.
