Rahul Gandhi building house for Dashrath Majhi’s son Bhagirathi Majhi out of his own expenses
The Congress leader and leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi termed as a compassionate leader sitting with commoners during his campaign trails, talking to the poor, having meals in the J.J.ckusters , even making the cobbler his friend and donating a machine worth rupees one lakh has secretly built a big house for the son and the poor family of Dashrath Majhi’s son in Gaya Bihar living in a muddy small house surprising and shocking the family. Rahul Gandhi had visited the house of Baghirath Majhi son of Dashrath Majhi known as a mountain man in June 2025 and met his entire family. Rahul sat with them, interacted, learnt about their problems, education of the children and had food in their house.
Compassionate Rahul Gandhi without giving the poor family any assurance, after some time started building a big pucca house for the family yo their surprise and shock. Rahul spent his personal fund without holding any office or aid from the government.
There had been several bollywood films made on Dashrath Majhi’s life and his outstanding achievements earning a handsome profit but nobody came back to take care of his family not provided them any financial help, though they had earned several hundred crores.
However, Leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi visited Dashrath Majhi’s house in Gaya, Bihar , met his son and the family and closetted with them for an hour or so , even having meals and finally building a big pucca house with all facilities for the family.
It may be recalled that Bhagirath Majhi is the son of Dashrath Manjhi, known as the ‘Mountain Man’ for having cut a large mountain block to build a road to his native place, Gehlaur in Gay, all by himself.
As per the Bihar Government, Dashrath Manjhi had carved a path 110 m long, 9.1 m wide and 7.7 m deep through a ridge of hills using only a hammer and chisel.
Dashrath Manjhi completed the daunting task single-handedly with the sole objective of connecting his remote and inaccessible village with the Wazirganj block in Gaya district.
Bhagirath Manjhi, considered influential among the local tribals and someone who has an inclination for politics, had joined the Congress in January 2025 in a jolt to the ruling JD-U, which he had joined in 2023.
On June 6, Rahul visited the mud hut of Bhagirath Manjhi, where the Congress leader sat with the family, shared coconut water, and listened to their concerns, including their financial hardships.
Rahul then asked the local leaders to ensure that a brick house was built in place of the mud hut and provided funds for the same as well.
After meeting with the Manjhi family in Dashrath Nagar, Rahul also garlanded the statue of Dashrath Manjhi as a mark of respect for the tribal icon.
However, Bhagirathi Majhi later in became annoyed with Congress for not giving him the MLA ticket after being assured by Rahul Gandhi despite his staying in Delhi for four days for the Congress ticket as assured by Rahul.
Today is the 25 th Foundation day anniversary. Where are we after twenty five protracted years ?
