Wild elephant enters Jolly Grant Airport runway and damages wall of the airport to find exit after two hours

Jollygrant Airport situated at Rishikesh is usually tress passed by wild animals and elephants. This happens because the Airport is situated at the jungle site where wild elephants and animals, even carnivores are a common sight. Yesterday midnight at 2.00 AM, a wild elephant entered the runway of Jollygrant hospital after breaking its wall and created havoc but thanks to the timings that there was no movement of the passengers as well as terminal staff being 2.00 AM time.

The wild elephant became berserk when it could not find the way of exit, posing danger to the lives of the colony adjacent to the airport runway boundary. The angered n exasperated elephant ran on the runway for two hours finally damaging a strong wall of the airport boundary and making a forcible exit after entering the adjacent colony creating panic. The forest department rangers and staff had a hard time controlling the elephant going berserk running on the runway furiously and angered.

According to a news the wild elephant has come from Badkot forest range into the Thano forest range and entered the Jollygrant Airport’s runway. The airport being near to the dense jungle, the wild animals usually tress pass the Airport precincts.

There have been several incidents of wild animals, especially elephants coming over to Rishikesh Railway tracts as well as on the road leading to Dehradun via Rishikesh surrounded by forests, damaging cars and sometimes getting injured, even killed by running trains.
