Bangladesh I&B minister to inaugurate Bangabandhu media Centre at PCI on 6 th September equipped with modern digital facilities
The Bangladesh Information and Broadcasting minister Hassan Mahmoud will inaugurate a newly set up information centre equipped with all the latest digital facilities including an exhibition Hall at Press Club of India on 6 th September known as ” Bangabandhu Media Centre”, in cooperation with Bangladesh Mission in New Delhi.
This new Media Centre will be named after Father of Bangladesh, it’s first prime Minister Shiekh Mujibur Rehman to commemorate his Birth Centenary who played a vital role in founding Bangladesh with the support of the then Indian government under the then prime ministership of Indira Gandhi.
According to the President of the Press Club of India Umakant Lakhera, the media minister, Bangladesh High Commission visited Press Club of India a week ago to see the progress being made in the setting up of the Banga media Centre at PCI.
The Bangladesh I & B minister would be visiting New Delhi from 5 th to 8th September on his bilateral official visit and and inaugurate the PCI Media Centre set up in cooperation with Bangladesh Mission in New Delhi on the ocassion of the centenary anniversary founder and the former first PM of Bangladesh Shiekh Mujibur Rehman, a great friend of India n father of the nation of Bangladesh he added.
Speaking to the UKnationnews PCI president Umakant Lakhera while thanking the Bangladesh minister for his kind gesture said that setting up of Banga information Centre at PCI is a fittest tribute to the great founding leader of Bangladesh who was himself a journalist contributing tremendously for the media fraternity in the region.
Terming him as a towering personality Lakhera said that he was not only popular and highly revered as Banganandhu in Bangladesh but equally in India, as a true n most trusted friend.
About arriving at the decision to set up this Media Centre in collaboration with Bangladesh Umakant Lakhera said that due approval was sought by the management committee members who gladly approved the proposal. The Club has an active membership of 4300 journalists formed in 1958 by the dedicated efforts of then veteran journalist Durga Dass. He added that “The media centre” will facilitate press related activities as journalists will get opportunities to file their stories from the media centre,”.
The former PCI president Gautam Lahiri while welcoming the setting up of the full fledged Banga Media Centre in Press Club in commemoration of the birth centenary of the founder of Bangladesh n great friend of India n journalist community Shiekh Mujibur Rehman, said that he was a great leader of South Asia with his ideology being a message to everyone irrespective of ages. He raised voice for the journalist fraternity as well proving to be their true friend said Gautam Lahiri. He pioneered strong and healthy bilateral relationship with India as a true n most trusted friend and always believed in press freedom for building a prosperous and happy society added former PCI president Gautam Lahiri.
