The main opposition party Congress is badly exasperated, furious and angered over Twitter for blocking the Twitter accounts of five senior Congress leaders including the Congress party’s Twitter account after blocking their leader Rahul Gandhi’s account a few days ago.

There is lot of hue and cry in the Congress over this alleged authoritarian act of the Twitter high ups blaming the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party for allegedly exerting pressure on Twitter authorities and blaming the latter for taking action on the dictates of the ruling party.

The twitter acounts of Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala, former union minister, AICC general secretary and Rajasthan Congress In charge Ajay Maken, Manikham Tagore MP, Mahila Congress national chief and Assam Incharge Sushmita Dev and former union minister Jitendra Singh Alwar has been blocked reveals the tweet of the secretary of AICC communication department Vineet Punia.

Several other Congress leaders have expressed their criticism by way of their tweets including secretary of the national Congress Pranav Jha. In his tweet Pranav wrote : So after locking the Twitter of @RahulGandhi, @rssurjewala, @ajaymaken,@sushmitadevinc.The list goes on@Twitter locks @JitendraSAlwar and @manikamtagore and many more. @INCIndia registers it’s protests and promises to continue its fight , fir each and all being wronged! We shall hold on @AshwiniVaishnawji, tweeted secretary AICC Ashwini Jha.

Two day ago hundreds of youth Congress activists led by its national president Sriniwas PV had also protested in New Delhi against blocking of the Twitter acount of their leader and former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi.

It may be recalled that the Twitter acount of Rahul Gandhi had been temporarily blocked on 4 th August after he had posted a picture of the brutally raped and killed 9 year old girl’s aggrieved parents meeting him in a Twitter handle which is against the policy of Twitter said it’s management.

However, Congress leaders have in their statements while contradicting the logic of Twitter authorities asked, why no action was taken when the BJP national spokesman posted a picture of Hathras rape victim violating section 228 of IPC. The senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor reacted by posting his views on Twitter criticising it’s double standard policy.

He tweeted : The perception of double standards makes matter worse. When a BJP national spokesman posted a picture of the Hathras rape victim ( violating section 228 of the IPC) @Twitter did not lock his account. SC Commission posted a picture of the victim’s family 2 nd August; no action said senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on his Twitter handle.

Meanwhile there had been tremendous pandemonium in Rajya Sabha today with physical confrontation between marshals and protesting members of parliament of various opposition parties.

The union ministers Piyush Goyal, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Prahlad Joshi etc have while condemning the action of opposition MPs said that it has never happened in the history of parliament, demanding stringent action against the protesting MPs. He also said that the prestige of parliament have been denigrated as never before as these opposition MPs wanted nothing but to spread anarchy.

On the other hand Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP government of allegedly physically thrashing the opposition MPs in parliament, first time in the history of Indian parliament. We were not allowed to speak and the government stifled the voice of the opposition. The opposition MPs were allegedly equated with terrorists etc charged Rahul Gandhi while addressing the protesting MPs n activists.
