Bollywood actor Himani Shivpuri adopts Bhatwadi village in Uttarkashi district for its development
Several politicians , especially members of parliament have taken several village under their control in the past at the call of prime minister Narendra Modi. The purpose was to allocate funds for the development of these villages and visiting them regularly, interacting with the inhabitants and resolve their burning issues including providing them basic necessities like drinking water, roads , educational facilities and other resources that would empower the village youths and women. This practice of taking villages under their control ( adoption) was introduced at the pan India level but the results have not been satisfactory as the members of parliament in majority of the cases have not come true to the expectations of the electorates finally the people and the government forgetting that this scheme was ever launched.
This apathetic attitude of the politicians have definitely demoralised the people of the villages adopted by the MPs as they had every resources to make them prosper but all in vain unfortunately. This lack of vision in our politicians who we elect is really a very unfortunate trend.
However, a new initiative of adopting a distance village in Uttarkashi by a Bollywood star Himani Shivpuri , who herself is from Garhwal Uttarakhand and daughter of a Hindi teacher in Doon school having coached former PM Rajiv Gandhi when he was the student in Doon School is a welcome step being lauded by one and all.
