GHARJAWAIN PLAY CARRIED A WONDERFUL SOCIAL MESSAGE OF LOOT BY A CORPORATE and VILLAGE PEOPLE COUNTERING THEM UNITEDLY IN AN UTTARAKHAND VILLAGE

Three plays in Garhwali , Kumaoni and Jaunsari dialects were organised and performed at Hindi Bhawan yesterday evening presented by Adakaar Theatre Society and sponsored by Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari Academy.

These three plays were of average one hour duration each which not only carried a social message but also entertained the audience to the hilt.

The plays were commenced after lighting of the lamps by Khimanand Pandey, actor, artist, Suresh Nautiyal, sr. Journalist, writer, Director Jatin Joshi, journalist, Sunil Negi, editor Uknationnews and president Uttarakhand Journalists Forum and senior officials of the Academy.

The first play titled “Garjawain” authored by Suresh Nautiyal , directed by Jatin Joshi with the music and melodious background songs sung by Dr. Kusum Bhatt of 55 minutes duration was performed with audience enjoying it to the hilt.

The script of the play was primarily based on a village named DAANDAPANI, Pauri Garhwal district.

Daandapani actually exists near Ghurdori Engineering college, few kilometres away from Pauri near the author’s village, Unchr where a corporate tries to capture their land to built his own enterprise.

The villagers as well as the animals living in the nearby jungles sense about this loot of the capitalist and hold separate meetings to counter the capitalist, finally fighting the capitalist in unison.

The issue of Jal, Jungle and Jameen ( water, forests and land) has been the centre of attraction of this play being captured by the corporates thus dislodging the villagers and the animals peacefully living there which is actually the order of the day after Uttarakhand being ruled by the two national parties.

The play deals with the issue of land loot by the corporates, and shows how humans and animals, unitedly, can thwart such greedy designs and attempts.

The actors used Garhwali, Kumaoni and Hindi languages to communicate, and to express themselves.

The play was immensely interesting with audience cheering it in between in jubilation.

The music and background songs by Dr.Kusum Bisht and her team were mesmerising making the play even more interesting with majority of the characters of animals and villagers too performing their roles joyfully and with immense dexterity.

Kudos to the author Suresh Nautiyal and its director Jatin Joshi for bringing out an outstanding play with a good social message on the contemporary subject.

The other play was ” Inshuli ” in Kumaoni dialect was too extremely interesting enjoyed by one and all to the hilt.

INSHULI WAS DIRECTED by Rakesh Sharma based on the short story written by Padmashri Gaura Pant Shivani. The play was based on a beautiful young girl with impaired brain coming from a distant village of Almora.

A woman of a villager who is childless takes her to her home and rename’s her as Kishni to take her complete care as her daughter.

Her husband namely Pandit raised objection that he doesn’t know anything about the caste, community and background of this hapless girl and the social dogma confronted by him.

In the meanwhile she being mentally disabled gets pregnant and the Pandit scolds his wife directing her to send her elsewhere as he is facing lot of objections from the society as to whose illegal child she is carrying in her belly.

The wife of Panditji refuses to do so and rock solidly stands with the pregnant girl joyfully taking care of the newly born infant to the mentally impacted woman.

Panditji leaves the house forever in anger and protest. But his wife is unmoved and looks after the child whole life. The story is full of passions and emotions and the audience enjoyed the play which also had several jokes and interesting scenes of entertainment etc.
