After Deepawali the AQI of Delhi crosses 400 points in Anand Vihar Sunday early morning. Above 300 points in several localities
I fondly remember that when the Queen of England visited India and the nation al capital, obviously she had a very bad experience due to the excessively polluted Delhi with the Queen literally saying that Delhi is the worst capital in terms of pollution. She had visited New Delhi, India in 1983 and met Indira Gandhi n finally in 1997. He first visit to India, New Delhi was in 1961. I remember having read newspapers during 1997 when news appeared about the queen complaining of air pollution in Delhi saying that she won’t visit New Delhi again. However, Delhi is the worst city in terms of pollution and the whole world knows about it. The air in Delhi is the worst becoming toxic day by day. After Deepawali and bursting of firecrackers on tremendous scale despite government agencies on court’s orders not permitting to do so the air quality index of the national capital territory have cross 400 marks which is highly worrisome. Though Delhi is the victim of stubble burning in large scale in Haryana and Punjab including Uttar Pradesh, the construction dust and diesal , petrol emissions compounded with the firecrackers during Deewali has led to the AQI crossing 400 points making the lives of Delhites literally hell. Those suffering from lungs related complications like Asthama, cardiac ailments, cancers and kidney related diseases are literally suffering badly diecto this increasing pollution. In Anand Vihar for instance the AQI was 400 points and more on early morning of Sunday which ch reached to 424 followed by 369 in Alipur, 399 in Ashok Vihar, 393 in Wazirpur, 383 in Bawana, and 354 in ITO. However, now in Anand Vihar the AQI has dropped to 182.These AQI indexes which usually remain near 300 and near 400 have made the national capital a gas chamber which has infact reduced the life span of Delhites. At Ghaziabad it has crossed 330 points with every area almost near it. However in Faridabad the AQI was lesser due to flowing winds measuring 166 n in Noida 269 and 250, the Deewali firecrackers added in the increase of AQI phenomenally. Let us tell you that AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, between 51 and 100 is ‘satisfactory’, between 101 and 200 is ‘moderate’, between 201 and 300 is ‘bad’, between 301 and 400 is ‘very’. ‘Poor’, an AQI between 401 and 450 is considered ‘severe’ and an AQI above 450 is considered ‘very severe’.
