Priyanka Gandhi files nomination from Wayanad. Declared her total financial value of her assets as Rs.12 crores !
The Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi has filed nomination papers from Wayanad parliamentary constituency today in the presence of her mother and brother Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
This is first time during her entire political career that she is contesting from Wayanad, Kerala by poll, the seat vacated by her brother Rahul Gandhi who won from Rae Bareilly quitting from Wayanad to pave the way for his sister, who readily accepted the offer.
Addressing the electorates the leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi said that by electing Priyanka Gandhi from Wayanad they will be electing two MPs from Lok Sabha referring one to him and other to Priyanka.
Apart from the leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi other prominent leaders who accompanied Priyanka Gandhi were the Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and several United Democratic Front leaders including her husband Robert Vadra.
Prior to filing her nomination papers Priyanka Gandhi Vadra held a largely attended a road show at Kalpetta waving to the electorates, cheering her and raising slogans in admiration of the Wayanad Congress candidate.
Addressing the electorates Priyanka Gandhi in a jubilant mode said that in her entire political career she is asking for votes for her own victory for the very first time. She said that she considers her privilege and honour to have been considered as Congress candidate by her party to serve the people of Wayanad saying further that she was deeply touched by the courage exhibited by the people of Wayanad at the time of catastrophic landslides that hit them drastically.
The Congress chief veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge in his address said that Mrs Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is not in Wayanad to file her nomination papers but as a relentless fighter and champion for the people of Wayanad. He urged the electorates to shower their kind blessings on her and guaranteed that she will deliver the results forthwith.
When the entourage of Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi arrived to file the nomination papers in Wayanad collectorate – at Kalpetta thousand of Congress and UFC leaders and workers had gathered to welcome her which converted into an impressive road show.
Meanwhile according to the latest news the Congress leader and candidate from Wayanad Priyanka Gandhi declared her total value of financial assets as Rs 12 crores. She also declared her net income for the financial year 2023-24 as Rs. 46.39 lakhs in the affidavit submitted with the nomination papers.
