One of the founders of Garhwal Heroes, former player and associated with Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha Hayat Bhandari is no more. Cremation today at Green Park

One of the founder members having played number of matches, the oldest pillars of renowned Garhwal Heroes Football Club and Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha who had retired as Executive Engineer from DESU Hayat Singh Bhandari has breathed his last this morning at his residence in Sheikh Sarai. His sudden death has sent shock waves in the Uttarakhand fraternity. He died at the age of eighty two. His wife Sunaina Bhandari is the great grand daughter of the founder of Garhwal Rifles and the then Last Sahab to Viceroy of India under British rule late Balbhadra Singh Ji. Late Hayat Singh Bhandari originally hailed from village Nishni , in Pauri Garhwal district and was related to late Narendra Singh Bhandari , the former education minister in government of Uttarakhand during the tenure of late CM Narayan Dutt Tiwari. A down to earth human being , a gem of a person, formerly an outstanding footballer and social activist as well with engineering background Hayat Singh Bhandari used to participate in the marathon of sr.citizens every year and when ever he got the opportunity to participate in it. So lovely was he with always a smiling face. The last rights will be performed at Green Park crematorium today afternoon at 12.00 PM. He left behind his wife and two sons , one Bipu Bhandari working in London. May the Almighty render peace and place at the pious feet of Lord and enough strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. Om Shanti.
