15 houses in Purola, Mori Block’s Saalra village of Uttarkashi extensively damaged in fire.

Not a day is left when Uttarakhand hills don’t suffer from any tragedy. Either there are massive forest fires, brutal human killings by maneaters and dreaded accidents and above all the due to lack of medical facilities. The recent fires in Uttarakhand that resulted in more than five deaths and massive destruction to flora and fauna including cloud burst incidents at Gadwaalgaad Uttarkashi and Baijron have been the headline news in Garhwal and Kumaon newspapers with about 15000 forest area destroyed massively.

As if this was not enough another news is pouring in that in Uttarkashi, Purola Mori Block’s Salra village fifteen houses have been completely destroyed in an outrageous fire. On receiving the information from the village head of the affected Salra Gaon in Purola, Uttarkashi the SDRF, local police , revenue, forest n fire departments etc are busy dousing the fire that has almost destroyed all houses to rubble.

According to the latest report there is extreme crunch of water in the village which is almost more than half a kilometre away from the Salra Gaon in Purola Mori Block .

The fire fighters are there confronting tremendous challenge to douse the fire. There is no network as well. Moreover, the extensive fire is posing danger to surrounding houses as well. Till now the extent of damage human and otherwise could not be assessed or calculated.

The District magistrate of the area Dr.Meharban Singh Bisht has sought all the relevant information about this fire from the SDM and Tehsildar and has directed all the concerned departments to expedite the extinguishing operations and relief and rehabilitation of the affected people, if any.

The Army rescue team to provide timely relief including chopper service has also been ordered for to reach the affected village immediately.
