Three deaths on Yatra routes by cardiac arrest. State Home Secretary oversees entire arrangements made by DM and SP on Yatra routes
After the commencement of the Char Dham Yatra in Garhwal, Uttarakhand complaints have started pouring in about congestion on the pathways leading these four destinations, especially on the squeezed way taking the pilgrims to Gangotri Dham. According to the latest reports, the numbers of tourists and the pilgrims heading for Kedarnath, Badrinath , Gangotri and Yamunotri are increasing manifold resulting is congestion everywhere. The lack of arrangements and shortage of staying capacity of hotels and government guest houses etc including no arrangements made by the government agencies for the pilgrims n tourists at cheaper rates etc have resulted in pilgrims sleeping in the open, several of them suffering from acute cold and getting ill with not requisite treatments resulting in deaths. According to the latest information on day one about three pilgrims had died of cardiac arrest hailing from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Both the pilgrims had arrived on Yamunotri Yatra. Those died are senior citizens numbering three namely Ram Gopal aged 71, Vimla Devi, aged 69. The name of third dead is Vishubh Kumar Bhabha aged 54 years. Meanwhile, the home secretary of Uttarakhand Dilip Jawalkar has today held an important meeting to assess the latest situation in Badrinath Dham arising out of increasing pilgrimage at Chardhan Yatra portals. Talking to the senior officers of police department and district administration the home secretary said that there shouldn’t be any inconvenience to the pilgrims n tourists during the Yatra. He talked to the district magistrate Saurav Gaharwar and police superintendent Vishaka Ashok and assess the situation regarding the arrangements being made by them for the convenience of the visiting pilgrims to Char Dhams. In the meeting meeting held at the district headquarter the district magistrate ensure that all the arrangements will be foolproof and there won’t be any inconvenience to the pilgrims n tourists visiting the Chardhams. The home secretary said that the pilgrims should be given adequate opportunity for Darshan of the deity. He also directed to make arrangements for adequate police personal at the sliding zones ensuring their adequate safety. He said the the increasing crowds of the pilgrims should be managed at Sonprayag and Gupt kashi before they go ahead. He said that the crowds increase in the initial days gradually coming down till it ends bug the administration need to made adequate arrangements for the convenience of of the pilgrims. According to the district magistrate Gaurav Gaharwar the administration has made 7 sectors between Sirobgarh and Sonprayag and same number of sectors between Gaurikund to Kedarnath. The security force personnel have been deputed in adequate numbers during the Yatra season said the district magistrate. The DM also advised and suggested that in view of the excessive traffic movement in Sonprayag n Sitapur n parking congestion with parking lots being full, the pilgrims should park their vehicles in Rishikesh and Haridwar and come here via other modes of transport likes etc. The administration has also fitted 65 CCTV camera on various locations on Yatra routes with officers monitoring them.
