A SEVEN YEAR OLD GIRL BECOMES THE PREY OF MANEATER AT SRINAGAR, GARHWAL. RESCUED AFTER BRUTALLY INJURED
A SEVEN year old girl was today brutally injured after a maneater leopard grabbed her from the house compound at Shrikot, Srinagar Garhwal in Pauri Garhwal district. The girl was rescued by the terrified local residents from a distance in the nearby jungle.
Though the girl was injured she was not able to walk on her own and was badly terrified. She was lifted by a gentleman along with terrified residents of Shrikot who accompanied her to the government hospital in Srinagar.
The girl is being treated. The terrified residents have complained to the police and the forest and wild life department urging the authorities to catch the maneater by tranquilizing it and capturing it in cages.
They demanded that in case the maneater is not captured it should be killed as the lives of the children , women and others are in absolute danger. It may be recalled that in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand the predators are openly wandering in residential areas, particularly near jungles and in villages with children, women and old aged its easy prey. The Srikot , Maletha, Devprayag areas are badly prone to maneater attacks and in the recent past there had been several incidents of human kills especially children and women. The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also expressed his serious concern over the increasing incidents of human kills in Garhwal, Jaunsaar and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand and enhanced the monetary compensation to Rs. Five Lakhs for the dead.
In the recent past and earlier too several maneaters have been killed by professional hunters to rid villagers of these predators. पौडी गढ़वाल जिले के श्रीनगर गढ़वाल के श्रीकोट में एक आदमखोर तेंदुए ने घर के परिसर से एक 7 साल की लड़की को पकड़ लिया, जिससे वह बुरी तरह घायल हो गई। लड़की को डरे हुए स्थानीय निवासियों ने पास के जंगल में दूर से बचाया। हालाँकि लड़की घायल हो गई थी लेकिन वह अपने आप चलने में सक्षम नहीं थी और बुरी तरह डरी हुई थी। उसे श्रीकोट के भयभीत निवासियों के साथ एक सज्जन ने उठाया, जो उसके साथ श्रीनगर के सरकारी अस्पताल में गए।
बच्ची का इलाज चल रहा है. भयभीत निवासियों ने पुलिस और वन एवं वन्य जीव विभाग से शिकायत कर अधिकारियों से नरभक्षी को ट्रैंकुलाइज कर पिंजरों में कैद करने का आग्रह किया है। उन्होंने मांग की कि यदि नरभक्षी पकड़ा नहीं गया तो उसे मार दिया जाना चाहिए क्योंकि बच्चों, महिलाओं और अन्य लोगों का जीवन पूरी तरह खतरे में है। गौरतलब है कि उत्तराखंड के गढ़वाल और कुमाऊं मंडलों में शिकारी खुलेआम रिहायशी इलाकों में घूम रहे हैं, खासकर जंगलों के पास और गांवों में जहां बच्चे, महिलाएं और बूढ़े आसानी से शिकार बन जाते हैं। श्रीकोट, मलेथा, देवप्रयाग क्षेत्र नरभक्षी हमलों से बुरी तरह प्रभावित हैं और हाल के दिनों में मानव हत्या, विशेषकर बच्चों और महिलाओं की कई घटनाएं हुई हैं। उत्तराखंड के मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने भी उत्तराखंड के गढ़वाल, जौनसार और कुमाऊं मंडलों में मानव हत्या की बढ़ती घटनाओं पर गंभीर चिंता व्यक्त की है और मौद्रिक अनुदान बढ़ाकर रुपये कर दिया है।
मृतकों को पांच लाख। हाल के दिनों में और पहले भी ग्रामीणों को इन शिकारियों से छुटकारा दिलाने के लिए पेशेवर शिकारियों द्वारा कई आदमखोरों को मार दिया गया है। रिखणीखाल, कल्जीखाल, श्रीकोट, देवप्रयाग, चमोली, लैंसडाउन क्षेत्रों सहित नैनीताल और पिथौरागढ जिलों में आदमखोरों द्वारा कई मानव हत्याएं की गईं, जिनमें मानव पीड़ितों को चोटें भी शामिल हैं।
