Himachal speaker to decide on the fate of six MLAs of Congress who voted against its candidate in RS election resulting in the defeat of Singhvi

After the cross voting by the six Congress state lawmakers in Himachal Pradesh ensuring the surprise victory of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan and the unexpected defeat of Congress aspirant Abhishek Manu Singhvi despite the Congress in comfortable majority, the situation in political turmoil ridden state is not so good for the ruling Congress party. However, still confident looking chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has this morning invited all the Congress MLAs to breakfast in a move to keep them in good humour and reassure them that their government is in full control not at all disturbed by the recent cross voting. Meanwhile, there are news reports about the speaker of the HP Assembly Kuldeep Singh Pathania likely to announce the fate of the six rebel lawmakers who’d voted against the Congress candidate ensuring the victory of the BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan, never happened in state’s assembly history earlier. The petition to disqualify the rebel lawmakers for arbitrarily cross voting in favour of BJP candidate has been lodged by the parliamentary affairs minister Harvardhan Chouhan under the anti defection law to the assembly speaker urging him to disqualify all the six MLAs. If these six state lawmakers are really disqualified the strength of the ruling party will be reduced to 34 against the strength of BJP ‘s 25 MLAs with three independent lawmakers to decide their own course of action. During the voting for the RajyaSabha, the BJP which has the strength of 25 MLAs has secured 34 voted and same number by Congress making it absolutely clear that while 6 lawmakers of Congress have cross voted for the saffron party candidate three independents have also voted for BJP. Yesterday, the Congress general secretary who had been the sole star campaigner during the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh leading to Congress landslide victory with everyone going ving credit to Priyanka had yesterday strongly criticised the ruling BJP for misusing its official machinery and agencies to dislodge the democratically elected government in Himachal Pradesh.
