MANEATER KILLED BY FOREST DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS AT KIRTINAGAR BLOCK. WAS THREAT TO THE LOCAL RESIDENTS HAVING INJURED SEVERAL WOMEN ALREADY

The forest department hunters have killed a man-eater who was a real threat for the local residents and the women, children and old aged persons of adjoining areas and villages of Kirti Nagar development block yesterday near Maletha in Tehri/ Pauri Garhwal district. This dreaded man-eater had already attacked several women of the area especially three women just two days ago injuring them at NAITHANA, Chauras near Srinagar, Garhwal. The three women who were injured were admitted in the government hospital after they strongly and courageously resisted the leopard/ tiger by making noises and repelling physically even pelting stones.

According to the latest news this man-eater had attacked nine women injuring majority of them and was a real threat to the panicked residents of Srinagar, Maletha and Kirtinagar Block.

The forest department officials said that they had killed the man-eater in self defence after they tried to locate it with an intention to tranquilize and capture the predator but were compelled to shoot it.

The shooters fired four bullets killing the predator with the fourth bullet. The forest department officials were on the search operation after a man-eater was on prowl for human flesh at NAITHANA and Daang villages having already attacked and injured five women who had gone to the nearby jungle n agricultural fields to collect fodder for domestic pets.

These injured women were admitted in the Base hospital at Srinagar where they had revealed their part of story as to how dreaded was this man-eater, having saved their lives by being brave and strong, repelling the man-eater.

On 23 February the man-eater had entered a hotel room near the house of the local MLA Vinod Kandari in DEVPRAYAG. The hotel owner has shown alertness by closing the door of the room. Thereafter he informed the officials of the forest department who came there fully equipped with weapons.

The man-eater leopard was chased by the forest guards etc and finally after eight hours he was killed with the fourth bullet following immense search operation finally fuctifying. Not only here but in Pauri village near Pauri township too a leopard is prowling for human flesh near Dhandhri, Timli, Kandai etc with residents badly panicked.
