Child Nikhil grievously injured at Canal Road Dehradun by a dreaded maneater
Maneater attacks in Uttarakhand’s Garhwal, Kumaon and Jaunsaar region have increased manifold with news, about the attacks of these predators on human beings becoming the order of the day.
If not much at least three incidents of such deadly attacks of man eaters appear in news papers every week.
Just yesterday a man eater leopard ponced upon a child playing with his friends near canal road in Dehradun grievously injuring him sending panic all around the area with parents sending their children indoors during day and evening hours.
After learning about the news, the police and wild life department officials started searching for the predator not to be found after a long search.
The incident occurred at Canal road, Dehradun under the jurisdiction of Rajpur police station in the evening when a child of Sher Bahadur thapa was playing with 5 friends near Sindobali Rispana river.
In the evening at around 6 PM the people heard about the cries of children and rushed to the spot finding the boy lying there injured and unconscious in panic completely terrorised.
While the children were playing with fire burnt due to chilling cold all of a sudden the maneater pounced on the boy and tried to drag him away.
Meanwhile, the panic stricken boys cried in panic finally the maneater leaving the terrified child behind. The injured panic stricken boy was ferried in ambulance to the Doon hospital where he was rendered medical treatment for several hours.
Kindly recall that few days ago, may be 20 days before, a maneater had dragged a child to the nearby jungle from the house compound who is still untraceable. The injured boy’s name is Nikhil. The wild animals – human conflict has become the order of the day in Uttarakhand with carnivores coming to the villages, road side houses and even in the city for want of human flesh because they are disturbed due to excessive construction activities, increasing sound and felling of jungles especially during the all weather roads and underground Rishikesh to Karnaprayag rail project execution including construction of resorts on river sides, commercial buildings like hotels and extensive construction projects under process.
Professional hunters have killed around 400 to 500 man eaters in Uttarakhand after they had become terror for human beings having made several of them their easy prey.
