Garhwal Heroes is the Champion again. Bags prestigious Bhagat Singh Memorial Trophy!

A renowned Football Club which came into existence in 1953 titled Garhwal heroes Football Club, now Garhwal Heroes has been credited for winning Delhi soccer championships thrice.

Just two days ago the Garhwal Heroes was on a winning spree when it bagged the prestigious “Bhagat Singh Memorial Tournament Cup”, by credibly defeating Royal Rangers by 5.3 at Ambedkar stadium in the tie breaker.

Both the teams were maintaining equalizer of 1-1 goals for some time. While both the teams were on their best attacking mode during the first half, the Garhwal Heroes had an edge over the rival team but still couldn’t score a single goal in the first half despite its best efforts, leading to Garhwal Heroes fans on the ground getting bogged down initially.

The Royal Ranger’s Bharanyu Bansal scored a goal in the second half making the heart beats of Garhwal Heroes ‘ fans running fast which was however equalised by Sumit of Garhwal Heroes.

This generated tremendous amount of enthusiasm among the spectators, especially the Garhwal heroes fans.

This tie breaker was now a real litmas test for both the teams.

From the side of the winner team Garhwal Heroes, the players who did goals were : Jaideep Arjun, Radha Kanta, Captain Neeraj Bhandari and Sumit whereas from the side of Royal Rangers the goal doers were Shubham Rai, Bharanyu Bansal , Vishwaji Jena and K. Vikram Simon but the shot of Simon hit the Cross bar, making Garhwal Heroes finally victorious nagging the prestigious BHAGAT SINGH MEMORIAL TROPHY.

According to sources there wasn’t much interest in this tournament’s final match because the organizers had not kept the cash prize this time whereas in the first edition, the winning cash prize was Rs 5 lakhs. This resulted in the players, coaches and management looking unsatisfactory, grim and with little enthusiasm. The DSA officials distributed prizes/ trophies to the winning teams and its players.
